Let's Dish # 15~ Pre Holiday Luncheon

Since this  weekend, there will be so many July 4th celebrations, and by the next meeting of Let's Dish, the holiday will be over, I did a little pre holiday table.
Let's Dish 914
I was having a few cousins over for lunch, so I went with a little red, white and blue.
Let's Dish 909
It was so windy I had to move the table on to the covered porch to give us a little protection.
I used a red and white cloth from TJMaxx, sq chargers from the Pfaltzgraff $ day sale, $2.00, Red square plates from the same sale, 1.00.
Stems are from Dansk.
Let's Dish 913
Flatware from HG, napkins from Kohls, and napkin rings from CTS,   .25
Let's Dish 912
Handled soup bowls by Hutchenreuther, Germany.

Simple centerpiece of blue hydrangeas in a white pitcher.

I just took a few quick pics before we ate, no time to fuss for a photo shoot!  :)

I had to keep it simple, 3 men were dining there and they don't like a lot of accoutrements, :)!

We had baked clams,  Long Island Clam Chowder, Spinach salad with apples, pecans, feta , red onion and

bacon.  Bow tie and snow pea pasta salad and sliced filet mignon.

Let's Dish 918One of the desserts was an indiv  white cake  , cream cheese icing, fresh blueberries and whipped cream.
Let's Dish 921
I made them in this pan by Wilton. Recipe here.  I subbed 2 xl whole eggs and cut the sugar back.
Let's Dish 925Let's Dish 916
Tip...
Make a bunch of these and keep them in the freezer. Pull them out when needed for a great summer dessert filled with fresh fruit and whipped cream or some ice cream.

Thanks so much for your good wishes on our son and dil's 5th baby!  I appreciate them!

Our dil and son had their fifth baby yesterday!

Eamon joins his sister Lily, and brothers, Michael, Seamus, and Declan.  We are blessed!  7lbs. 11 oz.  So far so good!

I'll add a pic tomorrow night.

We celebrated with a Strawberry Smoothie, made with my new Ninja.

Let's Dish 893
If you have a Ninja, and use it for things other than smoothies, I would love to hear!

It came with a big cookbook, but haven't had time to try it yet.

It also has a shredding blade, so I am anxious to try that too!

Let's Dish 894
I think I will bring it with me tomorrow when we go to meet our new grandson.

I can make sno cones for the other 4.

Oh, the winner of the gift card for the AT THE BEACH table challenge is

LET'S DISH! At The Beach, Use your Noodle!

It's official, SUMMER has arrived, and in a BIG way!

Let's Dish # 14 , very appropriate , AT THE BEACH!  It's HOT!

First for all the kids who got out of school today, esp. my gkids, :), Happy Summer!

Let's Dish 827

Inspiration for the first table is this great cotton quilt I got at Pottery Barn Outlet, for 6.50.  Double size, reversible, and very colorful!

Let's Dish 885

I also was looking at those noodles the kids use at the beach, and decided to make something table related with one.

Let's Dish 849

I slit it apart, this one had indentations all the way around.  Then I made an inner slit and fit it around a white charger plate.

Let's Dish 847

With the extra pieces I made place card holders, and napkin rings! Dollar Tree Noodle, 5 charger rims and name cards and napkin rings.  Pretty thrifty!

Let's Dish 826

I bought some beach toys at the end of the season last year, and used one as the centerpiece.

TIP:  Save those reels Christmas lights come on, they are great to elevate things on a table, just the right size.

Let's Dish 884

I used it on the Buffet table  Sunday to raise the centerpiece.

Let's Dish 798

Let's Dish 856

Breakfast for 8 on the Porch

I hope everyone who celebrated Father's Day had a great one!  My dad has been gone a long time,  he died young when I was a teen.

I cherish the memories I have of him, and know I am blessed to have had a wonderful dad.

Let's Dish 796

We celebrated Father's Day  here in Southampton, with a late breakfast on the porch.

A little beachy look, we live near the Bay, and on an Island.
So the beach is never far away!  :)

Let's Dish 800

I used the tablecloths I made for our beach community's Covered Dish supper last summer.
The fabric is wonderful, almost like a canvas, and is from Duralee Outlet in Bay Shore.

Let's Dish 795
To cover the legs, I used a fitted tablecloth I got from linens and things.com.  It was a great bargain that week.
Let's Dish 781

I kept it simple, our party of 8 included my 4 young gkids!

I love blue and white, so nice and crisp!

The sailboat centerpiece is also the same I used for the Covered Dish, HERE.

Let's Dish 816
The dish is from Pier One a few years ago, a great sale, so I bought 18!  They are very versatile, coupe shaped and waves going through them.

My everyday Dansk flatware, napkins are new, from the supermarket, 100 % cotton.  I love how they go with this cloth.
I know they were under a dollar each.

The napkin ring was .25 at CTS.

On the menu ?  Something to please picky palates!

Let's Dish 817
Let's Dish 819 DH's freshly made Blueberry Muffins.
Those food covers from the .99 cent store came in handy!

Let's Dish 802
Fresh pineapple, strawberries, cherries, grapes.
Bacon, Blueberry pancakes and a big bowl of freshly whipped cream!
Let's Dish 805
Let's Dish 807
Everyone was happy, and the kids especially liked having the whipped cream!

Oh, ds and dil expecting baby # 5 July 4th.  All prayers for a safe delivery and healthy baby appreciated!

No, they don't know, if it a boy or girl, they never do.  Makes it more fun not knowing.  They have 1 girl and 3 boys now.  :)

Since we didn't have enough fruit :) , I made a fresh peach cake with a cream cheese, sour cream topping.

Let's Dish 792

I used a white cake recipe, but subbed milk for the water, the juice from the macerated peaches and  a splash of apricot brandy .

Let's Dish 793

Slice the peaches , about 5, and macerate in sugar, cinnamon and another splash of apricot brandy.

When the cake is partially baked, place the sliced peaches on top of the cake.  Return to oven a few minutes, then spread a mixture of cream cheese, sour cream, sugar and vanilla.  (Soften the cream cheese, add the sugar , sour cream and vanilla.
 Mix together till smooth.)

Return to oven till the cheese mixture is set, and the cake tests done.  Don't over bake.  Let cool thoroughly.
Enjoy!

It's Raining Men~ Let's Dish! Shrimp & Crab Cakes

Oh, I meant, Man, is it raining!  Seems like every Wednesday, just in time to take pics!

JUNE 20th  At the Beach is the theme! Gift card give away too!

The table I had planned for outside got a rain delay.

Today, June showers brought lots of flowers!  In fact, when dh saw it he said it is very flowery! The man is so observant.  :)

Let's Dish 751
The topper is part of a lined panel I had left over from making curtains for the bathroom to match the bedroom drapes etc.
 It is by Ralph Lauren.
You may have it on your bed right now, lol.

Let's Dish 772
I used a white lace placemat, from the .99 store.  The dishes my neighbor purged, Winchester by Johnson Bros. I used them HERE last year.

The glasses are by Gorham via Lenox Outlet.

Flatware from World Market.
Let's Dish 769
Wicker watering can with rosebud impatiens and some diamond frost.  It will go back on the front porch later.
Let's Dish 762
Old pink napkins folded.  First I did them like this...
Let's Dish 759
White alabaster napkin ring, but decided to go with the fold.Let's Dish 763
Let's Dish 760I have to start giving a tip so I can link up to Stone Gables new meme an hour after we meet here.

Sometimes I feel strange doing that, I don't think I know anymore than you do!

When I wash the napkins, I take them out of the washer, and press them out with my hands.

Let them almost dry flat like that.
While slightly damp, fold them and smooth them, and leave them till they dry completely.

Earth shattering I know, LOL!

Let's EAT!

Augyst and dinner dance 403
Shrimp and crab cakes with a zesty horseradish mayo.

Served on my Crate and Barrel find at the Dollar Tree.

Augyst and dinner dance 396
I have only made them once, I needed a quick appy and I had some shrimp and imitation crab, so I whipped them up.

They were a hit, and I promised all those who asked I would make them again, and write down the ingredient measurements.

I didn't , but I want to make them for Father's Day so I will.  You know, some of this, some of that !  :)

Please read!

Please link up ONE table related post.

This meme is to show off your tables or collections, or table related bargains.
