Since this weekend, there will be so many July 4th celebrations, and by the next meeting of Let's Dish, the holiday will be over, I did a little pre holiday table.
I was having a few cousins over for lunch, so I went with a little red, white and blue.
It was so windy I had to move the table on to the covered porch to give us a little protection.
I used a red and white cloth from TJMaxx, sq chargers from the Pfaltzgraff $ day sale, $2.00, Red square plates from the same sale, 1.00.
Stems are from Dansk.
Flatware from HG, napkins from Kohls, and napkin rings from CTS, .25
Handled soup bowls by Hutchenreuther, Germany.
Simple centerpiece of blue hydrangeas in a white pitcher.
I just took a few quick pics before we ate, no time to fuss for a photo shoot! :)
I had to keep it simple, 3 men were dining there and they don't like a lot of accoutrements, :)!
We had baked clams, Long Island Clam Chowder, Spinach salad with apples, pecans, feta , red onion and
bacon. Bow tie and snow pea pasta salad and sliced filet mignon.
One of the desserts was an indiv white cake , cream cheese icing, fresh blueberries and whipped cream.
I made them in this pan by Wilton. Recipe here. I subbed 2 xl whole eggs and cut the sugar back.
Tip...
Make a bunch of these and keep them in the freezer. Pull them out when needed for a great summer dessert filled with fresh fruit and whipped cream or some ice cream.
Thanks so much for your good wishes on our son and dil's 5th baby! I appreciate them!
Here he is, a few hours old! Eamon. A little miracle for sure!

ReplyDeleteOh my goodness...look at that little precious bundle of joy! Congratulations. I thought that dessert was my favorite photo on the post until I scrolled down to the babe!
ReplyDeleteCute table K, that tablecloth caught my eye too! Love your new dessert pan, I'm sure you'll get lots of good use out of it! Congrats on the new baby-enjoy:@)

ReplyDeleteEamon is a beautiful baby boy!
ReplyDeleteYour table is wonderful Kathleen. I love the cloth.
I am working on a table, nautical red, white and blue, but not necessarily 4th of July. We are at the lake for a couple of days. I brought the dishes, a new treasure, from home. I hope to post the table before we leave Friday.
We needed a break from "house" work! The lake is the perfect solution.
I managed to get my seashore table published. That is the one I will link tonight.
Oh, Eamon is so precious!
ReplyDeleteVery nice luncheon table, and not too "froofie" for the guys. Love the flatware. Pfaltzgraff Dollar Day Sale? Lucky you, to score those plates and chargers! I never thought about freezing little cakes...thanks for the tip!
What a beautiful baby boy. So sweet and innocent! I think your 'simple' table is just right for the 4th and your menu sounds delicious as always. I feel bad that I missed last week :/ and am missing this week, but on the bright side for me I am getting things scratched off my lengthy to-do list. Hope to be back partying very soon. I really need to post, it has been a full week already. xo
ReplyDeleteLove your tablecloth and flatware!!! Your grandson is besutiful!!! I love newborn birthday pictures. Congratulations to you, your son and DIL!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a precious little bundle of joy, Kathleen! Thanks for sharing his pic. I love your table, too, with that snazzy red and white tablecloth. The little cakes look like a fun dessert with so many possibilities for filling them.
ReplyDeleteLook at the precious little guy all swaddled up; so sweet! Great table, and the dessert looks yummy!
ReplyDeleteNancy
I love your flatware and your RW&B table! Your little flag cake desserts look delicious & festive! I wish I had room to store more Wilton pans! I'm sure little Eamon received a warm welcome from his brothers and sister :)
ReplyDeleteThe little cakes look yummy, but I could just eat that baby's cheeks right up! What a little cutie! There's nothing like the smell of a new baby! Their little heads smell like heaven! I think I have all the grandchildren I'm going to get: 1! That's what happens when you have an only child. You put together a great table for your cousins. It is just so wild that you got those great placemats for just $2!!!! I found some for $6 and thought I was getting the deal of the century. ;-) Thanks for hosting again today!
ReplyDeleteSweet baby boy -- congratulations all around!
ReplyDeleteYour table is wonderful and the food sounds delicious. What is L.I. clam chowder? I have heard of New England and Manhattan styles, but not Long Island. Your idea about freezing the cakes is fantastic. I am really trying to watch the sugar, so it would be great to have a real cake with less.
It is New England, Ellen. But I used to make it with my fourth graders and we used ingredients from LI, hence it became LI Chowder! :)
DeletePrecious baby boy! Best wishes to everyone :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a darling little guy and such a blessed new member of the family! Eamon will bring extra joy to the festivities this 4th of July. Thank you for hosting Kathleen. I have really been enjoying this party.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Susan and Bentley
Eamon is beautiful, he looks so tiny!
ReplyDeleteYou always do fabulous holiday tables...I would kill for a bowl of your chowder even though the temps here are over 100° again today!
Kathleen, thanks for hosting the party! And congratulations on adding a wonderful grandson to your ever-growing clan! We learned recently that we will have a new grandbaby by Christmas -- our son's first child. Your festive table looks great! I really love that tablecloth and the star napkins. ReplyDeleteI love red, white and blue so I am lovin' your setting! There is something about two-handled soup bowls that draws me like a moth to a flame. Not only is your setting beautiful, your menu is tantalizing. The desserts look fabulous! I'm sure your cousins were delighted.

ReplyDeleteCongrats on your family's newest arrival. He is so precious! I love that tablecloth. I also really love how this is not a traditional looking patriotic red white and blue setting but is still very appropriate for the 4th. You always show us so many wonderful ways to entertain. Funny about the men, my men are the same too, not so keen on all the fluff. LOL! Thanks for hosting this week and so sorry I missed last weeks. I will have a beach setting soon though! Happy 4th of July to you and your family!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog!!! Congratulations on the beautiful new baby!
ReplyDeleteLove the red white and blue table. I hadn't seen that Wilton pan, I will have to check it out. Perfect for filled small cakes.
