Getting on My Plaid a tude!

April 1 st is National Tartan today, no fooling! I am joining Sarah and Babs for their Tartan Parade. My tartan's are packed away till next winter, but the gals said plaid would suffice!  (please excuse the darkness, it is raining!)Let's Dish 144

I used a pastel plaid cotton throw that I keep on the porch rocker Spring and Summer.  Today is cold and raw, but they say we will be near 60 mid week!

Let's Dish 146

The only thing new on this table is the covered bowl and the napkins.  I got the bowls  in CTS for 1.60.  They will be perfect for our soup, or even baked oatmeal Easter morning.  I have seen them for waaaay more in other places, but I thought these were worth the price.

The napkins started as this...

Let's Dish 153

one panel of tier curtains, 2 in a pkg marked down to .67!

I knew as soon as I saw it I would use it in a scape.  I have enough for 8 napkins, or 4 and a topper.  I don't think you can get cheaper than that!

Let's Dish 152

The flatware is by Cambridge, CTS, the little potted egg place marker, the blue goblet, and the napkin rings, all CTS.  Napkin rings were .25, Park Smith.

Let's Dish 142

The centerpiece is from Villeroy and Boch.  There are holes, (frog) in the top for the pink tulips.

I have the large one too! I got it in the clearance section long after Easter and I think it was around 12.00. It is very large!

The egg candles were from a long gone pre cursor to 99 cent stores, and they were 2/1 with the ceramic egg holder included.

Let's Dish 145

The pink stem is by Gorham via Lenox Outlet.

Let's Dish 148

Bunny salt and p's from CTS...

Let's Dish 152

as is the low cake pedestal filled with petit fours.

Let's Dish 144

White porcelain charger, mint dinner, $ Tree, baby blue salad from Pfaltzgraff clearance years ago.  I think they were .50  I used a pink tulip doily under the covered soup dish.

Let's Dish 154

Just to throw some real Tartan into the Parade, I dug out my Tartan Bunny from Pottery Barn, and took some pics down in the basement!  Excuse the darkness!

Let's Dish 132 I sat him in a wicker chair, used a tartan mat, black bowl and cup.  The napkin ring is a pique rattle from PB, and I folded a matching plaid stocking to look like a napkin.

Now I don't want to start trouble, but do you think the National Tartan Day Committee could change the date?  April just doesn't scream dark plaids to me!  :)

Let's Dish 135

I mean, we are all thinking Bunnies! :)

Let's Dish 138Please come back Wednesday night at 7 PM for Let's Dish.

Let's Dish 107

That's my little Brunch table for this week, can't wait to see what hopped on to your table, as long as it isn't your cat!  :)

I promised I would show you the dishes I got while shopping with Alma, The Tablescaper, last Fri.

They are  by

Let's Dish 127

Let's Dish 116 Hutschenreuter from Germany, labeled Hotel Ware.

The charger is white with a beige tint edge, a swirl of green,  white in the middle and a few purple flowers.

They didn't have the dinner plate, just the salad, so I am experimenting with plates I have to see what will work.

Let's Dish 118

I am thinking maybe the lime plate on the left, or maybe a purple or even white?

I just plopped it on top of the cloth I used for tonight's table to take the pic.  I am thinking a pale lavender cloth or even ecru?1.00 for

What do you think?

I have the perfect purple napkin ring for them.

The lime plate Alma got for me in the Reading Dish Outlet for .98, and it is really nice, thin, not like my other lime dishes.

Oh, the Hutschenreuther , were buy one get one free, so 2.50 for the charger and  $1 for the salad.  The pic doesn't do it justice, it was rainy today, and the light was poor.

I do love cream soup bowls, and I was  very happy when I saw these...

Let's Dish 130

The above have a gold emblem and taupey line.

Let's Dish 131

Above, plain white with a raised design. Both by Hutschenreuther.

Some people like shoes and pocketbooks, I like dishes!

They were 1.00 each!  Perfect size for soups, and I do usually serve soup at dinner parties.

So that's the let's dish for this week!  Look forward to hearing your thoughts, and seeing your collections or settings!

APRIL 18 THROW DOWN...THE GOOD EARTH IS THE THEME.  BIRDS, BEES, FLOWERS, WORMS,LOL, ANYTHING ASSOCIATED WITH MOTHER EARTH!

My friend, Alma, thinks I should split my post, save the food for a separate one?  I have always done both together, something for everyone.  What do you think?

Do you mind the food being with the dishes? I know I always want to take part in Gollum's Foodie Friday, and this way I am sure to do it!

BTW, Gollum's sequel to Gone with a Handsomer Man will be out the beginning of April!  I am rereading it so I can jump right into the new one, A Teeny Bit of Trouble.

I am running this again, as I think it would be perfect for Easter.

Ricotta Cupcakes with Blueberry Sauce.  Recipe for both can be found HERE.

Their cousins, the DUST bunnies , stay out all year!

If your read the The Tablescaper's Seasonal Sunday post, you know we went shopping yesterday.

I have nothing left to show, she showed everything! :)

No, I do! But I won't, as I haven't photographed it yet.

But I did get some very pretty Hutschenreuther dishes.

I don't know Hutchenreuther from Hasenpfeffer, but it was pretty, and I was considering
it , as it was a good price.

When the clerk came over and said it was, buy one get one free, SOLD!

I am talking GOOD prices!
Now I don't buy 12 like my friend Alma and Cherry Kay, but I took what they had!

I'll show you Wed for Let's Dish! Thanks so much to all of you who came over and linked or commented  Wed night for the first meeting!

I hope the weather where you are was as wonderful as it was here today, Spring has definitely arrived!

So...Let's Dish!

On a recent trip to Christmas Tree Shop, I found these polka dot dishes in the clearance.  There were a lot of them.  I say WERE cause I took all but the orange.  I have a baby shower coming up and I thought they might work for that.

They were .75 for the dinner, and 50 for the salad, and I had a coupon for 20 off.

Let's Dish 055

Let's Dish 044

A bouquet of flowers that was a hostess gift became the centerpiece in a little yellow watering can.  I put a daisy mat from CTS under it and the birds and yellow salt and peppers.

Let's Dish 054

Yellow ruffled charger from CTS, the polka dot plates, white plate, and  eared soup bowl from Target a few years ago. Dansk watering can napkin rings to carry out the centerpiece theme, and yellow print napkins from PB.

Let's Dish 071

Flatware by Fiesta, via Tuesday Morning, so a good price.

Let's Dish 065

Little white butter dishes from CTS, white ruffled serving bowls from HG, glassware by Dansk when they had an outlet here in Southampton, and glass daisy scatters from Villeroy and Boch were .99 in the clearance basement.

Sadly, both Dansk and Villeroy and Boch are gone, though I tried my best to keep them in business, but there's just so much one can do!  :)

Let's Dish 048

It would be fun to serve this as dessert!  Your friends will know you are spending a little too much time matching your food to your table!

table 3820

The pan is a flower shaped cup cake pan from WSonoma Outlet.

table 3826

You don't need a special pan for this one, just do the flower with whipped cream in a piping bag!

table 3825

Dish Chat...
