I cherish the memories I have of him, and know I am blessed to have had a wonderful dad.
We celebrated Father's Day here in Southampton, with a late breakfast on the porch.
A little beachy look, we live near the Bay, and on an Island.
So the beach is never far away! :)
I used the tablecloths I made for our beach community's Covered Dish supper last summer.
The fabric is wonderful, almost like a canvas, and is from Duralee Outlet in Bay Shore.
To cover the legs, I used a fitted tablecloth I got from linens and things.com. It was a great bargain that week.
I kept it simple, our party of 8 included my 4 young gkids!
I love blue and white, so nice and crisp!
The sailboat centerpiece is also the same I used for the Covered Dish, HERE.
The dish is from Pier One a few years ago, a great sale, so I bought 18! They are very versatile, coupe shaped and waves going through them.
My everyday Dansk flatware, napkins are new, from the supermarket, 100 % cotton. I love how they go with this cloth.
I know they were under a dollar each.
The napkin ring was .25 at CTS.
On the menu ? Something to please picky palates!
DH's freshly made Blueberry Muffins.
Those food covers from the .99 cent store came in handy!
Fresh pineapple, strawberries, cherries, grapes.
Bacon, Blueberry pancakes and a big bowl of freshly whipped cream!
Everyone was happy, and the kids especially liked having the whipped cream!
Oh, ds and dil expecting baby # 5 July 4th. All prayers for a safe delivery and healthy baby appreciated!
No, they don't know, if it a boy or girl, they never do. Makes it more fun not knowing. They have 1 girl and 3 boys now. :)
Since we didn't have enough fruit :) , I made a fresh peach cake with a cream cheese, sour cream topping.
I used a white cake recipe, but subbed milk for the water, the juice from the macerated peaches and a splash of apricot brandy .
Slice the peaches , about 5, and macerate in sugar, cinnamon and another splash of apricot brandy.
When the cake is partially baked, place the sliced peaches on top of the cake. Return to oven a few minutes, then spread a mixture of cream cheese, sour cream, sugar and vanilla. (Soften the cream cheese, add the sugar , sour cream and vanilla.
Mix together till smooth.)
Return to oven till the cheese mixture is set, and the cake tests done. Don't over bake. Let cool thoroughly.
Enjoy!

ReplyDeleteI love the blues and whites together! Very beachy and cool! Like you, my dad passed away, very young when I was a teen, so Fathers Day has always been kind of bittersweet for me. I do like to make it special for my dear hubby, though, since he is such a great dad. Thanks for the peach cake recipe. Looks delicious!

Your deck is huge!!! Boy, don't I wish! We can only seat 14 on our comfortably. I'm pretty sure you could accommodate twice that with all that wonderful space! Hope you had a good weekend. Usually we think of hot dogs and hamburgers outside, but it's so much nicer to be out in the morning before it gets quite so hot in the summer. Your table setting is beautiful as always Congrats on the soon-to-be new member of your family. Thanks for joining me at the Grill, BBQ, and Picnic Party today!
