Sunday Favorites~Shredded Apple Pie

I am joining Chari at Happy to Design for her Sunday Favorites.

I know some are reposting Fall posts, but I wasn't a Bloggin' Betty then, so I have nothing to post.

So I'll skip ahead to one of my least viewed posts when I first started blogging..at least to many of you it will be NEW!!

And for those who are tired of the heat, I am fast forwarding you to winter..grab a sweater..:)

But it is APPLE season, so maybe you can try the pie!

THUMPITY THUMP THUMP..

Look at Frosty STAY!

It is bitterly cold....I know it is winter, and some of you have this all the time....but ICE..hate it. Maybe I should get those things for your shoes they sell on QVC with grippers??
And tonight another gifting of precipitation...I was planning to break out of here tomorrow, so we will see!

Good weather for beef stew and biscuits...

Photobucket

Photobucket

The biscuits are in a tiny wagon that came with the display pieces....the sled you saw on the table yesterday...there's a bike, a, wagon and a wheel barrow too.

Since we are talking Frosty, this is a snowman my friend Mary gave me. It is from Villeroy and Boch and has a place for a light inside...

Photobucket

And this one all in blue and cream, also a gift, from my son's in laws..He is called
St. Flurry's.. Cornelius Vanderfrost by Mindspring... ( I never realized he was a Saint, now I really can't put him in the powder room!) :)

My WFD blogger friends know I have quite a collection of them, and I decorate the guest bath with them for Christmas....

I don't want to collect them anymore....I have enough, and some are so pretty they deserve a better display than the guest powder room!

The gkids like to see them, and always count to make sure the number hasn't decreased!

Photobucket

I tried something different today for an apple pie. A gal on another forum showed us a pie with shredded crust. I can't find the recipe, so I just made my regular dough, froze it a bit and shredded it with a microplane...

Not like hers at all...and dh wanted to know why I was grating cheese on the pie!
But since most of you don't know what I was aiming for, I will show this anyway!

Photobucket

Up close...

Photobucket

Photobucket

Mike believes in eating dessert first, so he did!

Stay safe and warm...
Thanks for stopping by...

Have a great Sunday, thanks Chari for hosting!

Tablescape Thursday~ Cocka- doodle-Cluck

I admit it, I am not a Rooster person....I just never got into them..Maybe all those DUCKS from decades ago ruffled my feathers, but I just never saw anything to crow about..
OK, stop moaning, chickens like corn! :)

Photobucket

But tonight I combine my Tablescape Thurs at Susan's Between Naps on the Porch , with Barb's at Bella Vista Rooster Party..

I would have done a different one for TTH, but I did the white with one color you can see here, and dh is getting a little tired of all this table setting!

Photobucket

Cluck..I am a dumb one..I know this is a fat hen, not a rooster..mea culpa...

But wait...

How about this..a Rooster..I don't speak French, but loosely translated it says..EAT BEEF..CHICKENS ARE FOR THE BIRDS

Photobucket

Photobucket

Black stems (Pier One) sit the fat hen on a black wire basket and a ruffled red plate, add some rooster colored votives..:) and that's it!

Photobucket

Used my Revol chicken roaster too...hey, it's all in the same family...no harm, no "fowl"...

Photobucket

What did we eat?
Indiv chicken pot pies..

Photobucket

And for dessert, Boston Cream Cupcakes...

Photobucket

( any recipe you like for cup cakes, slit in half, fill with whipped cream or pudding, drizzle melted chocolate icing over it)

And the answer to What's in the box??

The Tablescaper and I went to The Christmas Tree Shop..a very bad enabling duo for sure!
We filled our carts with all kinds of cwaptacular goodies..and then I spied this...I had been looking for one... on the net..269 plus $50 for shipping..white wicker lingerie chest...Perfect for the upstairs master bdrm..but I wouldn't pay that!

Photobucket

The protective wrap is still on! And for those of you who know me..YES. the rest of the haul is still in the trunk! :)

I paid $99.00....and wonder of wonders we were able to fit it in the van, along with all the other bags! It was quite an adventure with my Blogger friend!

Please be sure to visit Susan and Barb for all the other entries...And thank you so much, Susan and Barb, for hosting these events!

Thanks for coming..

Outdoor Wednesday~ Little Church in the Village..

Please join Susan at A Southern Daydreamer for Outdoor Wednesday entries..

A few weeks ago I took you to Mass on the lawn in our little beach colony .
Today I want to show you one of the 2 Catholic Churches in Southampton.

This tiny little church is over 100 yrs old. It is called Our Lady of Poland.

Although there are a few left, 100 years ago Southampton had many farms and Polish farmers. This church was built by them . There is still one Mass in Polish.

It was recently renovated, it was structurally compromised, but the dimensions were not changed.

Photobucket

Photobucket

It is small, here's a peek inside..

Photobucket

Photobucket

It was built in the middle of the neighborhood so they could walk to church.

You can see the Southampton train station from in front of the church..

Photobucket

Many don't think of Southampton as "small" town, but really it is.
Many residents were born and grew up here, as were their ancestors. Beautiful mansions for the very rich and famous, and modest houses with working people.

A few flowers these last weeks of the season...

These are Rose of Sharon ...this was taken from my dining room. I dug these from other plants. They do grow fast, but I like seeing them through the window, and the deer don't eat them..:)

Photobucket

And hardy mallow...

Photobucket

Another beautiful day at the Bay...

Photobucket

Thanks for visiting..see you Thurs for TTH, and
WHAT'S IN THE BOX?? A new telephone booth?

Let There Be White Part II

White dishes..so versatile..Until a few years ago, I didn't have any. Then a gal who I met on the Holidays Forum at Garden Web said everyone should have a set of white and cream...
So before the Big Lots craze, I got a set of 12 of the Gibson at LinensNThings, with a coupon of course!

But then I saw others I like too...Pier One provided the coupe shaped bowls I used for Part 1...
Photobucket

Photobucket

And I didn't use the Gibson set either this time...

I used these..

Photobucket

Ever hear of them? I didn't...I googled it and it seems they are made in Israel..
Thin, plain white with a rim..

Photobucket

So what would be my other color...blue, pink...black..red..??

So this made my decision...a few lavender hydrangeas that haven't fried ...

Photobucket

I used a lavender cloth with a sheer white cloth on top...

Photobucket

The white plate and soup, silver charger ..Purple stems, lavender goblets..

Photobucket

See the details on the water glass? (TJMaxx)

Photobucket

Napkins with a sprig of baby's breath, aster and lavender held by a white alabaster napkin ring (WSonoma outlet)

Photobucket

Pale lavender salad bowl..Christmas Tree Shop..
Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Individual covered casseroles, Christmas Tree Shop..white candles and tea lights and toile pitcher which was a gift .

Oh, I forgot to tell you! The white dishes and bowls I found at a small market where I get my vegetables..They have a few stores here on LI. 1.25 each! Really!
Hard to find a rimmed soup bowl for that. And it was easy to smuggle them in to the house with the groceries!
I wanted to get a few more, but I waited too long...I got 8 though, that's good enough..
Dinner?
Shrimp Piccata on a bed of parmesan spinach over angel hair...

Photobucket

Thank you for coming to the party!

Please visit the other white plus tables...I have seen some of them already and they are beautiful!

Please leave a comment here, and link back to this post on your blog..Thanks..
