Not here in NY, but there are some places harvesting fresh vegetables right now.
Not far from here there is someone who has a sign out, Farm Fresh Eggs, $3.00. I decided to go with that theme tonight.
The centerpiece is a mini Radio Flyer wheelbarrow filled with eggs, nested in some of that messy floral moss.
The dishes "Du jour" are City Market by Pfaltzgraff that were a bargain at the Clearance Outlet years ago.
My friend, Alma, The Tablescaper, gave me these adorable covered tomatoes for Christmas. They are made in Czechoslovakia. The napkins are towels from CTS on sale for .99. Pierced plate also from CTS years ago, as is the flatware.
The charger is from Pfaltzgraff.
Green glasses from CTS as are the egg cups. The eggs serve as place cards. :)
Little cow pitchers guard the eggs, also from CTS. The checked cloth I have had for years. Carrot vase is filled with breadsticks.
Salt and pepper shakers topped with veggies are from Savers.
A covered glass chicken holds the butter
Alma also gave me these speckled green and yellow glasses.
I can't wait to whip up a table to use them !
For dinner...
Linguine , spinach, ricotta and mozzarella, topped with broiled tomatoes with fresh mozzarella and a dash of oregano.
I sauteed some chopped onion and garlic in a little olive oil, tossed in the pasta, fresh spinach, a little ricotta and mozzarella, pepper, and finished with a few splashes of non fat half and half.
I broiled the tomatoes and cheese and placed it on top.
CJ at In and Out My Nest is hosting a party every weekend, R and R. I hope you will share some of what you do for R and R on the weekend at the party.
I am joining Susan for Tablescape Thursday

So cute, I love the yellow and green glasses. Dinner looks yummy. I wish I could buy farm fresh eggs around here. xo
ReplyDeleteOh, I love this theme! Even though I live in the city, my heart is in a farm house.

ReplyDeleteCathy
Kathleen, I'm always hungry when I view your posts. This dinner looks delish! Love the setting. Clever idea to use the eggs as place name holders. Cheerful table indeed! ~ Sarah
ReplyDeleteThis is a fun table. I love the 'egg' theme! Those dishes are really cute! hugs, Linda
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun table Kathleen! Love the covered tomato bowls. And your dinner looks fantastic! This kind of dish is right up my alley. I will be making it soon! And I can't believe it has been over a month since you were at CTS! I was there a few days ago. I didn't find much and with the exception of some clearance Christmas dishes, I didn't buy any other dishes.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you like the tomato dishes. They looked right up your alley. I know your look for yellow stemware, This is the closest I could find!
ReplyDelete- The Tablescaper
Love the tomato dishes and the cooked tomatoes also!!! Cute centerpiece with the wagon and eggs also!
ReplyDeleteToo, too cute!! That wheelbarrow full of eggs is adorable!
ReplyDeleteYummy looking food!
Katherine
Wow, there are so many things to love about this table. Those tomato dishes are so cute. I love the towels as napkins and your stemware is just so pretty. The glass chicken is so sweet and I can't believe all the deals you get! We don't have a CTS here.
ReplyDeleteYour dinner looks amazing.
Love your farm fresh egg table! Very nice. The green and red is great! So happy to come here with a full stomach. Your food always looks so good!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a big tomato lover when they're kind of whole like that, but those both look AND sound good! How long do you broil them? Do you broil the tomato for a while and then put the cheese on top or do you do it all together? I'm looking to put a few new items into my repertoire! Meanwhile, I love the table, especially the checkered linen! I love green and white checks! They just look so happy and fresh! Everything looks really cute, and I love how you got the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteYou always have such wonderful and unique "themes" for your tables - love the egg idea especially in a wheelbarrow as a centerpiece! The veggies go great and the tomato dishes are perfect. (You have a real soul-mate in Alma!) The green checked tablecloth is a wonderful background for the country look. And naturally, there is yummy food to put on that table! MMMM! Looking forward to seeing what you create to go with those lovely green speckled glasses!
ReplyDeleteDD
Very cute table. I just love those cute towels.

Cute table, cute theme! Dinner looks so good. Bet you thought I'd say cute again :)
ReplyDeleteI love your happy farm table, Kathleen, and the story of the source of your inspiration. When we're inspired we're "in spirit"--cool to see where you were when... And your recipe looks wonderful! Always enjoy your posts! ~Zuni

ReplyDeleteI enjoyed my visit to the farm, and tomato bowls are cute. Glad you served tomatoes in keeping with the theme ;o) But that cute wheelbarrow made me squeal with delight! Eggsalent tablescape Kathleen. Love all the veggie themed pieces too.

It's wonderful Kathleen! We have one of those wheel barrows. I might have to copy your idea and use it in a centerpiece sometime. Love it!
ReplyDeleteI love your table. In the summer, we are spoiled with eggs from the farm down the road and there is an amazing difference.
ReplyDeleteYour dinner sounds wonderful. I may have to make something like that this weekend!
Carol
Kathleen, your post has made me smile. I love it! The centerpiece is so creative, and it is my favorite part.

Don"t get me started on how yummy your dinner looks! Um-mm-good! And that table is so charming - how sweet would that farm fresh table be for the kiddies? Take them to a farm or farm stand, and have the whole meal from local sources on that adorable table. I wish mine were a wee bit younger!!
ReplyDeleteFood looks yummy, am I hungry? Your table is charming.. I love the country feel. Great glasses too. Love this for breakfast! You are soo creative. xo marlis
ReplyDeleteHow imaginative, the farm style table is just lovely.
ReplyDeleteUsing eggs as placecards is truly eggceptional (sorry!)
Your supper dish looks so appetising I could almost taste it all the way over here in France.
Your food looks divine, as always, and the table is really clever. I want to be The Tablescaper's best friend, too! Those little tomato dishes are just too cute for words!

ReplyDeleteHi Kathleen,
ReplyDeleteI know I say this every week, but this table is just great!! It's so springy and cheerful. My mind is still in winter mode (even though we haven't had much real winter here, to speak of). Everything on the table is just great. I love the eggs in the mini wheelbarrow, the green and white gingham cloth, the carrot vase and the Phaltzgraff dishes. Those are great gifts The Tablescaper gave you. What a good friend.
Enjoy your wonderful pasta, and have a great weekend!

How cute this farmy table is, K.
ReplyDeleteI love it.....I think most of us have a little down-on-the-farm love in our hearts. :))
That meal looks and sounds so delicious. I NEVER have on hand what I need for these delicious recipes. Just came from the store so won't be going back until next week. Hope to make this dish then.
Yum!! That looks so good! I love broiled tomatoes! Such a wonderfulf farm fresh table. The green gingham check tablecloth is something I would use a lot! I think those cute plates and bowls would make even the pickiest eaters take a bite of their veggies. And I LOVE yout little yellow hen on a nest. I collect those in blues.
ReplyDeleteVery glad you are joining in the big clear out. I can't believe that folks there are so picky about when and what you can donate. Here they take it all. Anytime (during their hours of operation). You just drive up and ring the bell and they help you unload the car into a big bin and then they say "thank you" and give you a receipt and you can go on your merry way. They make it easy to donate.
OMGOSH!!!! You have a beautiful blog! I am smitten. I see that you are in NY state. I grew up right across the border in the Binghamton/Elmira are. Know where that is? I am signing up as your newest follower and you are stuck with me now! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to try this recipe.
ReplyDeleteYour fresh eggs theme is so cute and the tablescape is as fresh as the eggs. :) So cute. I can't wait to try your linguine recipe. It looks easy and delicious. Have a great weekend,

Kathleen, I love this FARM FRESH table! Using the eggs as place cards is so clever! Love the S and P too. Plates are great. Your dinner sounds DELISH! XO, Pinky
ReplyDeleteWhat a darling table setting! Pfaltzgraff has certainly come a long way from the Yorkshire pattern that I collected for a while. So...The Tablescaper's name is Alma! The secret is out! ;-) I do love those covered tomatoes. What fun it must be to exchange holiday gifts with someone who shares the same tablescaping passion as do you.
ReplyDeleteI'm just getting back into town with a chance to play on the computer.
ReplyDeleteAs usual, I loved all the details on this table. Those tomatoes are adorable. The Tablescaper is a great friend!
My favorite thing in this post is the set of yellow and green glasses. I've been looking for some happy yellow glasses to use this year.
I'm sorry but that pasta made me really hungry, specially with those tomatoes with melting cheese on top...
ReplyDeleteLove your green goblets. I just ordered some Vietri Optic goblets in acid/Lime Green today. Can hardly wait to receive them. The linguine looks so delicious. I'm going to give it a try. I thought of you over Christmas. I got the new 14 cup Kitchen Aid Mixer and the die cast food processor. I'm so excited to give some of your recipes a try. Your tablescape is wonderful as always. Thanks for inviting us for a peak. Cherry Kay
ReplyDeleteOh, Kathleen, another marvelous table! I've been gone too long! Now I need to go look at what you've been doing here. The warm weather was a joy. Your garden table is amazing, you always have the perfect assortment of table settings and linens. LOVE!!!!
ReplyDeleteI just love this tablescape. Going to the Farmers Market is one of my favorite things. I even volunteer on occasion when they need help. What a fun way to bring a touch of fresh food to cold winter days. And dinner looked delicious!
ReplyDeleteYou are too funny! I hope Sue sees your funny comment! Farm fresh eggs...we need more farm fresh everything! I love the table those eggs inspired. My guess is that when you were in the classroom you had the best bulletin boards ever!!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a cheerful table for the cold January doldrums, Kathleen! The seed catalogs are beginning to come in the mail at my house and I am dreaming of summer.
ReplyDeleteAlso, thank you for your notes of condolence -- they were greatly appreciated.
What a lovely tabelesetting...I love the centerpiece and the layered plates...and everything looks so cheery on the checked tabelcloth - and then the MEAL...looks so delish!
ReplyDeleteLove your festive table, Kathleen. It reminds me of the farmers' market that I'm missing very much right how. I'm not eager for it to start up again but I do miss all the wonderful fruits and veggies. At least farm fresh eggs are available year round.
ReplyDeleteNot only am I blown away by the beautiful tablescape, I'm in love with those 'Farm Fresh' towels. Oh how I'd love to lay my hands on those!

Wow...the table is beautiful but the dinner totally rocks! I love the flatware. My daughter gave me flatware with navy handles for Christmas and I nearly cried. I was so excited. Great inspiration here every time I visit. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI was out of town last week for the Miss America Pageant and it was all I could do to get something posted so I am catching up with a few. I love your little wheelbarrow and adorable tomatoes. Such beautiful weather. It was beautiful where we were too but now at home it is 23 today and horribly cold.
ReplyDeleteThe Radio Flyer wheelbarrow is a great touch to your table, and i love what you have served-up as well. I hope to see some of you folks on Thursday at my own blog as i publish images from the Witness movie tour that i had gone to this past Sept, the film stared Harrison Ford in 1985. Richard
