Since so many of you joined in last time, to keep it interesting for you, let's add ONE color to the table..white dishes, but one other color for flowers, napkins, glassware, whatever.
OR, if you didn't do it the first time, and want to do all white, that's fine too..
Hope you will join in, it's before Labor Day, so we can still wear WHITE! :)
I am joining Susan at A Southern Daydreamer for Outdoor Wednesday.
I live in a Beach Colony by the Bay. Every summer we are blessed, (literally:) ) to have Saturday evening Mass on the lawn by the Bay. It is truly a wonderful experience, and the families who live there, just walk over for the service. Kids abound, so there is always a little diversion going on. But it is a small, family friendly community, so no one minds in the least.
Some bring chairs, others just stand...
Here my youngest gson tries to escape his stroller to roam around with the rest of the kids...Next year there will be no keeping him in!
And we are always thankful for good weather, and pray that the jellyfish don't arrive till summer is over!
Continuing in a water theme..
Summer is fleeting, and I hadn't used my little shrimp napkin rings..so a little whimsical table..I have to use these "treasures" to justify keeping all this stuff!
The Dish Police are always at the ready to throw out these things I absolutely NEED!
Fish shaped glass charger, fish shaped dinner plate and bread and butter..blue and white striped napkin..
Dark blue cloth, lighter blue fish net, look closely, see it? :)..blue placemat
Lighthouse candle lights, the top opens so you can put a tealight inside, shells, white fish ramekins for the melted butter, sailboat salt and pepper shakers..and little shell candles..
And for dinner..grilled shrimp, sliced steak, and parmesan potatoes..salad..
Fresh fruit for dessert..

I went to a service on the beach when I was in Destin FL and it was just lovely! Sometimes I think God is a little closer when we are outside :) Great post and tablescape!

ReplyDeleteI just wanted to stop back and tell you what bunco is, you may want to start a group in your area. We have so much fun with ours.
You need 12 women and it is a simple dice game. You earn prizes or money depending on the group. Our group does 7.00 per person and we meet once a month at 1 members house. So you only have to host 1 time a year. You could probably find the actual game rules on the internet, it is brainless and thats why we love it because we end up doing more talking and laughing than playing anyway. You should start a group, you won't be sorry.

How cute are those little napkin rings. I have the same fish plates as you. I got them about 27 years ago and still use them.

ReplyDeleteI love your little shrimps ! They are quite the characters..I see you didn't use pure white napkins, Thank You, LOL ! I really did Look for white napkins while thrifting this last weekend....all the white ones were yucky material or stained...I did find some brand new in the package white hankies - will those work ?.....hmmmmmm.
Love your seascape ! I hope those nasty jelly fish don't come early for you ! Your pictures at "church" was fun - I do bet your little grandguy will be escaping soon....watch out !!!

I know you mentioned outdoor mass but I was picturing tons of folding chairs on a lawn - this is so much more intimate and people really want to be there to stand for the whole service..how wonderful. I love little D trying to escape the stroller.

ReplyDeleteLove the fishy theme! I've been lucky enough to attend outdoor mass at another beach community..the summer I spent a month in Alicante, Spain in a house near the beach. Its been 25 years ago, but its a memory that sticks with me for sure! My dish policeman has been threatening to write me tickets lately..hehehehe. I need to bring him to your house to show him what an offender you are!!!!

ReplyDeleteHope the jellyfish have stayed away... We usually do not have many problems with them here.(west coast FL) But we do need to do the stingray shuffle. One of the best experiences of my life was the day I was wading knee-deep, shuffling along, when the floor of the gulf seemed to rise and whisper by my legs. It was a school of stingrays. What an incredible feeling!!! (and the reason for the "shuffle".

OMG, love everything about this post. I've got dish police around here (even my 9 yr old) trying to tell me I love dishes too much!! I'm forcing myself not to buy some fish or sea inspired dishes to match a fish centerpiece idea..ugh! you are inspiring me to be brave and try cooking seafood here at home. :-)
