I have had these place mats for years, and since my gkids were out this week for vacation, I decided to do a little fun table .
I wanted to use the colors in the mat..
A light green plate, $1 dark blue salad from the Pfaltzgraf clearance center before they closed them all :(, red lion head for the ketchup, light green fish shaped butters..
Dark blue tablecloth, light blue napkins trimmed with red rick rack..(actually an after Christmas sale from Martha at Kmart...50 each)
Little colorful fish napkin rings, sailboat salt and peppers, a few crabs atop a blue pedestal plate for the centerpiece...
Light green fish serving dish...I substituted blue tumblers when the kids came..:)
Dessert..cake baked in this fish pan..saving that for a later post...
I made another of those fresh fruit cakes, this time I mixed peaches and plums...
You can find the recipe here...

I love this colorful setting Kathleen! How lucky your g-babies are. :)
ReplyDeleteThe rick rack trim brings back memories of growing up in the 50's and 60's ~ it reminds me of my dear mom.
Fun tablescape! :)

ReplyDeleteI love the rick rack napkins and the colorful table you have set! I think I will just have to sew some rick-rack on some napkins of mine. Your g-kids are lucky and one question? Would they ever actually use the cloth napkins? I always have to put paper out with the cloth. Love the idea of a fish cake too. Cindy
ReplyDeleteKathleen, I just found your blog and love the"fishy" tablescape.

What a fun and colorful table! Love all the fishies. I'm old enough to have fond memories of rick rack sewn on everything.
ReplyDeleteLove those fish placemats. I am sure your little Grands had so much fun at your house this past week. You must have a big home to be able to store all your cute dishes. I have little room and what room I have in the kitchen is saved for more cooking gadgets and baking pans:) I can't wait to see your fish cake in your future post.
