Tablescape Thursday~ Cocka- doodle-Cluck

I admit it, I am not a Rooster person....I just never got into them..Maybe all those DUCKS from decades ago ruffled my feathers, but I just never saw anything to crow about..
OK, stop moaning, chickens like corn! :)

Photobucket

But tonight I combine my Tablescape Thurs at Susan's Between Naps on the Porch , with Barb's at Bella Vista Rooster Party..

I would have done a different one for TTH, but I did the white with one color you can see here, and dh is getting a little tired of all this table setting!

Photobucket

Cluck..I am a dumb one..I know this is a fat hen, not a rooster..mea culpa...

But wait...

How about this..a Rooster..I don't speak French, but loosely translated it says..EAT BEEF..CHICKENS ARE FOR THE BIRDS

Photobucket

Photobucket

Rooster tablecloth..WSonoma Outlet...

Photobucket

White with black charger..Pier One

Red Cambridge flatware..

Photobucket

Black dinner plate, Pier One..Red umm chicken..Sur La table..

Photobucket

Add a matching ROOSTER napkin held by a chicken ring..WSonoma outlet)

Photobucket

Black and white swirl plate from Pfaltzgraff outlet (.26 cents) and little red lions head, Sur La table

Photobucket

Photobucket

Black stems (Pier One) sit the fat hen on a black wire basket and a ruffled red plate, add some rooster colored votives..:) and that's it!

Photobucket

Used my Revol chicken roaster too...hey, it's all in the same family...no harm, no "fowl"...

Photobucket

What did we eat?
Indiv chicken pot pies..

Photobucket

And for dessert, Boston Cream Cupcakes...

Photobucket

( any recipe you like for cup cakes, slit in half, fill with whipped cream or pudding, drizzle melted chocolate icing over it)

And the answer to What's in the box??

The Tablescaper and I went to The Christmas Tree Shop..a very bad enabling duo for sure!
We filled our carts with all kinds of cwaptacular goodies..and then I spied this...I had been looking for one... on the net..269 plus $50 for shipping..white wicker lingerie chest...Perfect for the upstairs master bdrm..but I wouldn't pay that!

Photobucket

The protective wrap is still on! And for those of you who know me..YES. the rest of the haul is still in the trunk! :)

I paid $99.00....and wonder of wonders we were able to fit it in the van, along with all the other bags! It was quite an adventure with my Blogger friend!

Please be sure to visit Susan and Barb for all the other entries...And thank you so much, Susan and Barb, for hosting these events!

Thanks for coming..

  2. I an not into the Rooster theme either unless I can roast one and I think they are tough old birds:) I looked at those chicken plates at Sue La Table but honestly I never make pot pie so I did not purchase them but they made me look at them twice as they are so cute. Now the chest is a nice bargain at that price. I am off to rule the roost or should I say babysit the little ones. Little guy seems to be TSing my entire home each and every day:)

  5. What an absolutely DARLING and fun table, K. Just precious. I love your roosters/chicks to pieces.

That wicker chest is to die for. I have an old brown, ugly 4 drawer chest that I am going to paint white..will blog about it but...it sure is nothing to CROW about..and I'm NUTS to even keep it..cheap wood..but..it belonged to my mama and she kept fabric in it. Guess what I keep in it...yep..fabric..and I can't sew a stitch. Aren't we funny creatures.

  6. Oh the roosters I have. I really should get busy and do this.
I always find it interesting when someone has roosters that I have never seen before. Not even in the stores.
The table cloth is really cool. Do you hurt people who spill on it. I would. Williams and Sonoma doesn't come cheap. The red handles on the flatware are really pretty.
I am glad you had fun with your shopping pals. You may need to rent a cargo van next time.

  7. First, I have to say that those boston cream cupcakes look divine. Just had to get that out of my system. The table is wonderful! Love the black and white theme and the hens and roosters...really cute.

  8. Nice, oh so very nice. The napkins are just the icing on the cake, as well as the beautiful flatware. It just looks so well done, and then you add the food! What can I say? You keep topping yourself. Now you add a beautiful wicker chest that you find at a really good price, and make me jealous talking about your shopping extravaganza. I have serious envy Kathleen.

  9. I'm more about the bunnies and teddies around here but have a few roosters because of a kitchen curtain bought antiquing.

Girl, for a non rooster chick, you got it going on...I can just see Mr. Wonderful rollin' his eyes and brow beatin' ya!!

I need to try the indv pot pie thing for my boys...I still gotta use their new little ramekins 1st.

Dish love baby...If you ask me we all need to turn an entire room into a butler's pantry. Someone needs to throw a party and show how they are storing their dish treasures.

  12. I had to laugh at your 'loose' translation of the French rooster table linen - LOL! I'm not a rooster person either but I love those linens, the pot pie dish and the Revol rooster. Soon it will be time to use them again :)

  13. I never thought I was a rooster person until recently -- probably because my Mom was, in a big way, so it was my own little rebellion not to be. Your chickens and roosters are great -- and I LOVE the colors in this table... the black, white and red are so chic.

So where is this WS outlet? riverhead? And what about christmas tree shop? Give, lady.

AND WATCH OUT FOR THE STORM THIS WEEKEND. We were going to head East tomorrow, for a 3-day, but have decided to stay home and go out next weekend instead.

    Be careful!

  15. Kathleen, I'm with you ... rooster or hen, either one works.

I definitely remember your Boston Cream pie cupcakes. But I didn't remember until seeing them again that I promised a certain person that I'd make them for him.

I love the chicken pot pies in the Revol dish. They may not taste any better, but they certainly are cute.

    Great flatware!

  19. I'm not a rooster fan either. I liked your tablescape, but it had about as many roosters as I can handle (and that isn't including the imposters, ie. chickens and hens).

What fun we had shopping!!! Can't wait to do it again, but I think I need a bigger house to hold all of the loot!

  29. Aren't you the clever one. Showing us the food and thinking it will suffice for not enough roosters. Well, my daughter and I LOVE Boston Creme Pie and you just showed us the way to do that where it's isn't too much trouble. Thank you Thank you. Blessings, Janet

  36. Hey There,

First time stopping by - what a lovely blog. Your header table setting is beautiful.

I am not a rooster person but I know that all things rooster sell very well in the home decorating retail business.

I see you are from NY - are you familiar with the wonderful gals at Sunday Suppers?

I posted one of their beautiful tablescapes that I thought would work well for fall. You can check it out here: http://thedevinehome.com/entertaining-simply/

  41. Fun table! I have the same linens. They are some of my favorites! I'm working my way through the parties, but it may take me all weekend. So many wonderful roosters to visit. Hope to see you at my place for a little rooster fun. hyacinthforthesoul.blogspot.com

  42. Kathleen, your table is gorgeous with all that rooster! My basil also suffered from some critter who ate most of the leaves of the early ones and then this batch that I used for the olive oil, barely decided to "grow". I've been sharing the pot I put together for my friend. Hers grew almost the next day! Go figure! LOL

I'll be there for the next TT, too many school related stuff to deal with for now.

    Enjoy your weekend!

  43. You crack me up, what a good egg you are! and I am nice and didn't use old crow once in this comment, LOL! great post, Kathleen!

  44. Those individual chicken pot pies are just too cute!!!

I'm not a huge rooster person myself! I usually have one or two out at a time but I don't care to have them everywhere (brings back memories of ducks, cows, pigs etc). Although I do think roosters have a timeless quality about them.

  45. Kathleen, it has taken me days to get through all these 'scapes to get to yours but I love it! I only have one lonely rooster so never participated in the "party" but you sure did it up right...even if you mostly chicken-ed it up! Great deal on that terrific chest! I would love something like that just to have another place to put "pretties"!
