I downloaded Windows 10 and my computer crashed!

I resisted and resisted but finally downloaded Windows 10. My screen just blinks, red, green, blue etc. I called Microsoft and they said as I couldn't get the Dell logo to come up they couldn't get in to my computer to help me. They said my 3 year old computer was very old! It worked fine until they did the download. I don't know if I will be back up and running by the 16th for the party. I am doing this from my ipad, but I don't think I could do pictures and the link up from it. I will be ready in case I can get it fixed, but I wanted to warn you it mey not happen before you go to any trouble! I'll keep you informed. :(

  2. Very frustrating for you Kathleen. a suggestion is to do a TEST post with your iPad before the blog crawl and see how it goes?

  3. Kathleen, I am no technical expert (but my husband is my household techno-geek), and we ran into a similar problem. When he downloaded W10 to our computers, our laptop would not run W10. He ended up restoring Windows 7 on that machine with a Windows operating system recovery disk. If you have one, you may be able to do the same. We have used the Geek Squad at Best Buy for other issues, maybe they could help you if you can't recover it yourself. I can only imagine your frustration level.

  5. I am so sorry that happened. I told my Mom not to download Windows 10 that she was fine as is. Now I'm really glad I did. Good Luck.

  6. Oh poor you, Kathleen! So frustrating! As my DH says, "computers can make a grown man cry" and they do! Don't worry about the Blog Crawl - we will be ready if you get your issues sorted out and if not, we still have an audience in blogland - though of course, it's fun to party with you.

  7. So sorry! Even with some of the problems which are beginning to surface since we no longer have Steve Jobs, I still think Macs are worry free compared to a Microsoft product. I would never go back, given a choice. I am sure you will find some way to do your Irish thing on St. Pat's. I will not be able to participate this year, but you can bet I will look to see what's going on!

  8. There's no excuse for that. That's exactly why we moved to Apple for our computer. Makes me mad for you. My hubby says you can do what Rita C said with restoring the old operating system but hopefully you had a back up done on your computer before all of this. I'd definitely take it to a repair center if you aren't inclined to know how to do that stuff. I've advertised for your party and I know others have so let's pray this gets ironed out. Fingers crossed for you.

  9. I had no trouble downloading Windows 10, but I already had Windows 8. I'm thinking Mac for my next computer. No virus worries either.

I hope it all gets straightened out so you can host the "crawl". Thanks for letting us know Kathleen.

  12. Hate it when this happens and it should NEVER happen...Windows needs a LOT of work before sending us all into hair-pulling mode. They are bound to know of all the problems Win 10 is creating so....why don't they fix it..??
I am going to publish my crawl post on the 16th as planned....Hope you get your problem worked out but pls don't sweat it...

  13. I am soooo sorry to hear you're having computer issues! I concur that the Geek Squad can help you. I paid for a year's membership & have used them 3 times already. My DD keeps telling me to go to Apple products, too. *sigh*
I've got my post all ready to go on at midnight on the 15th. I hope you can get a linky party set up but if not, we'll be with you in spirit & will visit anyway.

  15. Kathleen - the same thing happened to me. But I finally took my computer into the shop (many $$$$'s later, I had my computer back and went back to Windows 7.) Anyway, we are so excited about tomorrow. Thank you in advance for hosting your annual St. Patrick's Day party. And, Kathleen, thank you for all you did for us and our blogs. We think of you often.....
