♥♥~Calling All Love Birds~♥♥
Tonight's table features this red and white cloth from TJM.
The flatware is Calypso by Towle, purchased at about a third of what Pier One is selling it for, at CTS.
Red charger is from Pottery Barn Outlet, and the dishes are from Le Dollar Tree and cost...a dollar!
I used them once a few years ago in a Halloween Devil table, so it was time.
Your love bird can sit here, tag was on the gift Alma gave me, a Valentine Red Bird.
Doubled napkin and white alabaster ring from William Sonoma Outlet.
A hurricane with a white berry wreath, hearts and red berries is the centerpiece. This was easy, I keep this on my table till after the 14th.
The stems I have never used before are from HG, and the I used the antique glasses from my friend's mom as they had the same shape and some etchings.
Ruffled white bowls from HG, and little white bowls for the butter from CTS.
Fly away now to check out the other tables at Susan's BNOTP Tablescape Thursday, but remember, it won't be available till Thursday morning.
Hope you are planning something sweet for someone on the 14th!
I had a small filet mignon in the freezer that needed to be cooked, and some shrimp.
I sliced the filet mignon thick, seasoned the meat, got the pan hot. No oil, just sprinkle of salt on the pan. Seared it on both sides, lowered the heat and cooked a bit.
Let it sit, then sliced it. Served it on top of linguine with spinach, and did the shrimp in wine sauce. Very quick and easy! I know you aren't supposed to use shaved locatelli cheese on shrimp, but too bad, we like it! :)
The steak was as good or better than all those complicated recipes, high heat, oven off, cover with foil etc recipes!
Cut like butter!
Thanks for visiting!
Besides Susan I am joining:

ReplyDeleteOh Yum! I just got off work and this looks so delicious! Steak and shrimp on Valentines sounds like a winner to me. I think the love bird tablescape theme is adorable. I especially love the red and white! It's all so very pretty!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you found those cute plates for a buck at the Dollar Tree. I go in ours all the time and never see anything like that. They're just perfect for a Valentine's Table.
ReplyDeleteAs usual, your food leaves my mouth watering, especially since I'm sitting here after eating my lame meal for one.
Hi Kathleen! Your table is beautiful. How well your dishes and tablecloth look together! What pretty glasses too.

ReplyDeleteOh, gosh that dinner looks good. I'm having chicken tonight - AGAIN!
ReplyDeleteLe Dollar Tree - I love that. I'm going to call it that from now on.
I love all of this RED! The tablecloth is fabulous. I have the dollar plates but I don't know if I've ever used them. They look sensational in your tablescape.

Your table is gorgeous. I love it..and the food looks delicious! It makes me want to come over for dinner! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteYou're speaking my language with the reds on your table :)
ReplyDeleteI'd love to have some kind of surf and turf for our V-day dinner too. Yours looks delicious, Kathleen!
Another great table from the wonderful bargains at the CTS.....love that centerpiece...I never find anything good at our WS OUtlet....I really have to get back to Tablescaping on Wednesdays....now that I actually have two real dining areas....you would think I would take advantage of that.....Hope your week is going well...
ReplyDeleteAs always Kathleen you make the greatest tablescapes and this one is great for the big V day. The food is so yummy looking, you're such a terrific chef! Hugs,
ReplyDeleteFABBY
This is so beautful. I remember those dishes at DT. Your cloth is a jewel. I know you will get lots of use from it. I am going not to look at polka dots. Hugs,
ReplyDeleteRed and white tables always look so cheerful to me. This one is so sweet also with the valentine touches!
ReplyDeleteThe table is so pretty. All of our love birds want me to make them a Valentine's dinner. It is funny - somewhere along the years it switched from the two of us to all of us! Your steak and shrimp linguine sounds fabulous and I agree - I would love the cheese on the shrimp.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely, romantic table! I can't get over those dishes from the Dollar Store -- they are perfect with that pretty tablecloth! The layered napkins add a special touch.
ReplyDeleteLove your tablecloth and all the birds and delicious dinner. Laughing because when in Italy this waiter went nuts when my friend asked for cheese for her fish. He refused to bring the cheese but my friend insisted. He was so mad that when we ordered desserts which were displayed on a cart he said they were not serving any:-). No explanation why but we knew it was because of the cheese. We all laugh about that crazy night:-)
ReplyDeleteLove February! and your post is speaking to my soul Kathleen. Great inspiration for my special Valentine meal.
ReplyDeleteRita
Love your table as always! But the new banner is a stunner! Love that winter table!! Wow!

ReplyDeleteI'll put my thinking cap on and come up with something for your St Paddy's blog hop.
I came here, straight away, just as soon as I got this post in my email & ALREADY 30 people have commented!! You are VERY popular, Kathleen!
ReplyDelete"Le Dollar Tree" ~~Hahahahahaha!
Beautiful table with TONS of bargains & really pretty stuff, Honey. I think I have those same antique stems...they sure look familiar.
You made "surf & turf" for supper & it looks divine! Please explain exactly HOW you "did the shrimp in wine sauce" ??? Inquiring minds wanna know.
Hugs & thanks,
Rett
You never cease to amaze me..The table is absolutely stunning...Love, the love birds and the food..yum!!
ReplyDeleteYes, you sure ARE popular! Rightly so! Your table is beautiful, I love red and white tables. I cracked up at "Le Dollar Tree'!!! Your food looks SO good. We are having burgers tonight, it is so warm outside today it feels like Spring! It got up to 67 today in Pa.!!!!!!!!!!! Amazing. XO, Pinky
ReplyDeletePretty table. Very vibrant with the reds! Dinner looks great.
ReplyDeleteOK, Missy...I have a laundry list here: What in the world is CTS??? I Googled it, and the stuff that came up didn't sound like anywhere to shop. Does that stand for something? Next, I am SO jealous you are near a Pottery Barn Outlet! I looked up online where they are, and only you East coast and Southern gals have privy. Rats! I could and WOULD clean up there! What's even more icky is that I was just in Memphis, TN where there is one about a year-and-a-half ago and then, of course, in GA for a hot minute where I could have swung by. Double rats!!! Next, salt in the pan? You don't put it on the meat, but in the pan? Hmmmm...never thought of that. Of course, I'm not the Queen of Cuisine like you are, either! :-) You KNOW I really like the table with the fresh red & white and those rockin' ruffled bowls that I am coming to steal!!!
ReplyDeleteAs always Kathleen, a beautifully set and inviting table, I love red birds! The filet mignon and shrimp, looked as though i could have picked it right out of my computer, and simpler to me is better, the real flavor is savored and not hid! Great post, thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Sue
So very beautiful Kathleen. And your new header is just gorgeous. You are a master of creating over the top tablescapes and making fabulous food. OK I'm just waiting for an invitation. When spring comes I'll have my bags packed and my fork in hand. (smile)
ReplyDeleteNann
PS I'm with Alycia...WHAT is CTS? I have no idea.
I love that flatware! What a deal! The table looks beautiful...and so does the food!
ReplyDeleteKathleen Thanks for coming and commenting on my recent posts. It means alot to me. You are one of my mentors in this blogging world and I have learned so much from you by observing. One of these fine days I'll find my wings and soar with the golden eagles of blogging of which you are one. Thanks again my new dear friend.
ReplyDeleteNann
I love the red and white Kathleen, and of course all your great deals which make me jealous!
ReplyDeleteAnd I adore the polka dot table below, just my fave and just perfect!
Hugs,
Cindy
Such a pretty table, Kathleen. Red and white is my favorite and as always I am in awe of your shopping skills.
ReplyDeleteLove the red and white tablecloth!! Really pretty tablescape! Come on by and link up to Centerpiece Wednesday! I am finally back!
ReplyDeleteKarin :)
You amaze me with your finds! This is a very perky table, and I like very much the way you have used white to break up the red. I so enjoy your creativity.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty tablecloth. Love your centerpiece and your stemware is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYum! Both the food and the tablescape. Are those stemware the same as mine? I have not used mine yet. Maybe I can set a Valentine table as soon as I get home, yep, still in FL but I have a flight confirmation for the 10th. Poor John, he must be tired of eating carrots by now....Christine
ReplyDeleteKathleen, GREAT table, one of my favorites. Love the table cloth, bird shakers (I have those, but where are they?!), red chargers, flatware, and plates. Isn't it grand when it all comes together. Red and white is one of my favorite combinations. I need to find some bold print tablecloths! Need. Happy week to you! ~CJ
ReplyDeleteFantastic table -- you know I love me some red! I haven't gotten it together yet, but maybe next week.
ReplyDeleteThe stemware is so graceful -- love the lines.
Great table...love all the red but my favorites are the ruffled bowls and DT Dishes. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty table Kathleen. I also love the table in your header! I have the same red and white Dollar Tree dishes. And the food is making my mouth water!
ReplyDeleteI Love red, Kathleen! Your table is gorgeous, as always. I'm going to do a surf & turf for the two of us this Valentine's Day, too.
ReplyDeleteI have a question...How do you make the hearts in your post??
ReplyDeleteThis is so fun and perfect for Valentines. I adore the little red bird tag!
ReplyDeletesuch a wonderful tables cape. The tablecloth really is the star. I love it...and those great red and white plates. I never saw those at DT...sigh. The white berry wreath and hurricane centerpiece is such a valuable appointment for your design. I'd leave it on the table the whole time, too. Thank you for inviting us for a peak. Cherry Kay
ReplyDeleteThe tablecloth is beautiful and goes so well with you Dollar Boutique plates ;) Thank you for your kind comment on the GW message board.
ReplyDeleteBeing a tablecloth lover, when I saw this beautiful red/white one of yours, it pulled at my heartstrings and isn't that appropriate for V's day! You've coordinated the dishes/stemware wonderfully. I wish I could find a white/berry wreath like you have for your centerpiece - it really is perfect for a "winter" look that you can leave our for awhile. I've gone back through a few of your older posts (haven't gotten out much lately) and am amazed by all your V's day ideas and loved the polka dot post too!
ReplyDeleteDD (yep, I've "come out")
Hi Kathleen!
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing that CTS stands for Christmas Tree Store? I only know we don't have them here. Your tablecloth and dishes were just made for each other, and the stemware is SO pretty! And, dinner looks yummy!
Elaine
