  9. You live in a beautiful place, Kathleen, and by the looks of it very cold right now. Ice boating looks a little scary, but fun nontheless.

  11. As I get older the love of doing anything outdoors escapes me completely!! Maybe if I had two layers of thermal underwear, heated socks, heated mittens and some type of heated cap...then, MAYBE!!!

  12. Kathleen, I just love the shoreline photo with the contrast of the beautiful blue of the water and the white of the snow and ice! Gorgeous :)

Those "ice boats" are very common on MN lakes but I can't think of what they are called here right now but I know it is not ice boats.

I am waaay too much a titty baby to ever be able to try this fun sport. Well, maybe if I were given a REAL chance, I might try it. Looks like so much fun.

Hope you have a big cup of hot tea and a scone and in front of a huge fire!!

  16. I'm sure they check the depth of the ice but it still scares me! I took the virtual ride on the video clip, it was fun :)

  17. Lot's of fun! Seems a bit early in January for saw ice, though. We just lost a father and son through some ice a few days ago. :(

  21. These are great photos...although I must say that I'm not big on these cold weather sports. I'd be happy staying inside until the flowers are in bloom!

  23. The ice boating looks so fun, and the blues are gorgeous. But I'm definitely am not a fan of winter and cold weather. As beautiful as the bay is, I know I would like the summer version better.

  26. wow, you get it much colder than here in Nassau Co., never saw the bay frozen here! That looks like fast, and fun, but I'd rather watch on the video than be outside freezing :)

    Love the beach picture!
