Can you identify this flower? And some purple…

Hello Ladies!  I know many of you are Master Gardeners and may know this flower.  I believe it is a bulb.  It was growing in the middle of my neighbor’s lawn and I said I would ask if you knew what it was.

Anyone have a clue?

The pollen invasion is in full force here, so no progress on setting up the porch.  If I try and do it for Memorial Day, I will be doing it all again in 2 weeks.  Did that once! Sad smile

I picked some of the iris I have growing on the hill.  They are such a beautiful color!  They inspired me to pull out some  my favorite dishes, given to me by my longtime internet friend, Marigene of In the Middle of Nowhere, many years ago!  People have asked where to get them, but they are discontinued and I haveIMG_0001n’t been able to find any.

The purple clematis have reached the top of the lightpost, can’t wait till they all open!

Hope you all have a wonderful Memorial Day in case I don’t get back!

  1. Could it be a Star of Bethlehem flower? Looks very much like it. Have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend.

  2. Hi Kathleen, I'm with Barbara--it looks like Star of Bethlehem to me too. Of course I'm loving all the purple and those dishes from Marigene have always been a favorite of mine when I see them on blogs. Your clematis looks so lush and healthy! Hope you post it in full bloom! I know your summer invasion starts this weekend but I hope you can enjoy it anyway. We have already started doing our part to annoy the natives on the Cape! I sent you my address and can't wait to see my flatware! Linda

  5. Yes, those are Star of Bethlehem flowers. Your clematis is gorgeous! Mine blossoms every year, but has very few leaves.
I recognize those lavender dishes!! I keep looking for more of them, but have never seen them, not even in thrift stores.

  8. I'm not familiar with it so I looked up Star of Bethlehem since everyone thinks that's what it is and I does seem to be the right answer. Love the iris and the pretty clematis. I just planted one and hope it grows.
Have a great Memorial Day weekend!

  10. I haven't the foggiest idea about the flower but I sure am loving all your RED, WHITE & BLUE in your header!!! You always do such a nice job with patriotic themes.

I remember those lavender dishes & I remember hunting high & low for them, too! LOL Never did find any. I also remember the search for the red ones with the roosters. Those were very elusive, too.
I hope you have lovely weather for Memorial Day!!

  11. Hi, Kathleen! So good to see your blog post in my email! I'm glad the flower mystery has been solved: I do not have a green thumb, and would not have been able to help you! Those purple dishes are precious and look so pretty on your table. Do you have any plans for hosting a challenge in the near future? I hope your summer goes well. Where the heck does time go: wasn't it just Christmas?! Take care, Rosie @ The Magic Hutch

  13. I've missed you, and I'm eager to catch up with you. I've thought of you often over the past year. I'm making another run at blogging. I have quite the cache of tablescapes to share. I pray that all is on an even keel at your house. Cherry Kay
