  1. YUM! We had fish for dinner tonight, but mine didn't look as pretty (or as abundant) as yours! Your little blog crawl button is so cute. I'm taking it back to my blog. laurie

  2. Oh what a cute little plate. If Sue sees that plate she is going to want it:) Hope you do not get a whole lot of snow tonight. Can't wait for the Pub crawl. I was thinking today what I could use for the pub crawl and sat down and had a guiness and then just had to take an Irish nap:)

  6. I love date nut bread and think I remember yours. Yours looks prettier than the ones I've made in loaf pans.

Thanks for the link to Cathy's tartar sauce; it does sound tasty. Great looking crab cake ...

  7. Bedtime and now I'm hungry. Crabcakes are way at the top of my favorite food list...yummy, that entire meal looks fabulous. I also love date nut bread. My dad used to make it for Christmas, but he hasn't for several years now. Maybe I'll take over the job!

  8. Kathleen this is my kind of dinner! I love fish and shellfish, etc. That crab cake looked fantastic and the plate is adorable!

Your date nut cake sounds fabulous! It reminds me of an Irish plum pudding.

  10. Well I hate fish but even I think that crab cake looks yummy.

I've never had date nut bread but it sure looks great. So moist. I may have to give that a try.

Those plates are so cute. I always love your place settings.

    Hugs,

  11. Well, here's one for ya, darlin'..
I have never, not even once, tasted CRAB ! Now, you know how I feel about anything that comes out of the water so I probably will go to my grave without crab ever crossing these olden lips...
NOW, the Date Nut bread/cake is a whole 'nuther story. I LOVE IT. I have a recipe from my Aunt Lola from 1960 that I make every now and then...and usually sit down and cry because I miss her so much.
I will surely give your recipe a try.

How fun that you are having a St. Patrick's Day party. I will do my very best to come up with SOMEthing. I have not one decoration for the day...hmmmm
    hugs, bj

  12. I'll gladly take BJ's share of the fish!!! LOL Yummo!

Your date nut creation is pure perfection..what a cool bundt (?) pan.

I ♥ your little crabby patty plate, too. How fun!

Still putting up GREEN stuff around here, in between looking out the window at the MASSIVE snowfall. :(
    Stay warm over there.

  13. forgot to ask if you have the homemade coleslaw recipe posted on your blog? I'll go hunting...it looks really delicious & I'd love to try making it, as I HATE mediocre coleslaw. There is a place in FL that has a wee bit of pineapple in their recipe & it is AWESOME. I'll have to try to find that one, too.

  14. That looks like heaven on a plate! I LOVE seafood. I don't have a good recipe for date-nut bread so I am copying yours...I even have a baking pan shaped like the one you used; think it was meant to be a jello mold but who cares! Love the blue crab plate.

  15. Hi Kathleen - I'm so happy you liked the crab cake recipe. Your whole meal looks so delish, especially the shrimp. And thanks for the link.

That little blue crab plate is the cutest ever.

  16. Looks good as usual...and my question today is:
Your food always looks so exquisite but is it as good as it looks? Never mind I already know the answer...YES of course. Have a great day...I am off to see what kind of St Patricks day tricks I have in my boxes. Gold coins I hope ;)

  17. Well, I forgot to defrost my fish, and we are snowed in, so I am officially jealous of your gourmet Lenten dinner, Kathleen! If we keep shoveling, we may be able to get to you in time for dinner! :) Hope you're warm and not too snowed in. We're at about 11 inches so far.

    Best,
    Stephanie

  18. Are you trying to kill me? The crab cakes look fantastic. More crab hardly any fill! Perfect!

Ah, I was one of those ten :)

So we are due for a white party now, I think? but looking forward to your Green party for sure!

  19. This fish dinner is a far cry from the meals we used to have when I was growing up! Do ya remember fish sticks and tuna casserole? LOL I need to come up with a crab cake that Mr. S can eat. I am really missing my salt. But I am getting a little skinnier these days! Hope all is well. I will definitely post my Irish soda bread recipe for your blog crawl. yummers.... hugs, Sue

  20. I don't do seafood, but the date nut bread is right up my alley! Oh, I could eat that whole thing, but I would share if I had to. I will definitely be giving that recipe soon.

  21. The crab cake looks so good - much better than any I have made! Noticed the little red lion bowl - I've been using them for slaw and other small sides!

Hoping you get through the weekend and keep your power on!

  22. My mom used to buy date nut bread when I was a little girl and I loved it with cream cheese. As a young bride it was one of the first recipes i looked for. We do seafood Fridays too- this looks delicious!

  29. Wow, Kathleen! With food that looks as yummy as your crab cakes, I'd give up meat for the WHOLE of Lent! And to have those wonderful crab plates to set it on would make it taste even better! Congrats on winning the Irish Coffee Mugs - very fitting that someone Irish won them! Your Date Nut Bread makes my mouth water and I don't even like dates! Hoping to round up some "Green" pics for your Blog Crawl (great name for that!)

  34. We had Jamie Oliver's oven baked salmon filet with green beans, vine tomatoes, black olives and anchovies for dinner on Friday. It's one of our faves as are fishcakes & tartare sauce, thanks for the recipes.
I've added a link to your St Patrick's Day Parade on my blog, spreading the word!

  35. As always Kathleen, Yum!

Fridays in Lent usually means pizza in my house (actually any Friday, Lent or not, means pizza). You're sooo good about alway cooking.

Loving that cake. I'll definately copy that recipe.

And... I'm already planning my entry for your St. Pat's Crawl!

  37. You may not enjoy meatless meals but OH I wish I could dine with you during this time! Your meal looks awesome. Love that crabby plate. I'll have to post about the beautiful seafood themed platter my brother gave me for Christmas. I had to have it shipped and I got it a couple of weeks ago. Thanks for joining me in the flashback and sorry about Mr. LInky. The date bread really good. Quick breads of any kind are a fav of mine.
