Say Goodbye to These! Let’s Dish # 64

Another week of work here, and a few more to go!

Lots of rain , we need some good clear days so I can get finished.

What a wonderful display of Patriotic Tables last week for Memorial Day!  So many talented scapers out there!

After a rainy start, the sun came out and I quickly set a simple lunch table with dishes that are on their way to the Thrift Shop.  I had quite a pile for the pick up today, and these were part of the donations.

004

They are a set I gave my dil 5 years ago, made by Farberware.

006

I had my first set of kitchen dishes for 27 years!  I got rid of them when we moved.  5 years seems to be the life cycle in their home, lol.

I started with a tablecloth by Pfaltzgraf that had a little flower similar to the one on the plate.  Yellow placemat.  Blue flatware by Cambridge.

Blue Italian Baker from CTS, 1.99.

001

010

The little watering can napkin holders I have had for many years , by Dansk.

012

My apple trees are finished blooming as you can see in the above picture.  I wish they lasted longer!

013

All these had to be dug up for the porch extension..  I found places for them elsewhere, but that’s it, I am full up !

Well, there’s room for a camellia and a crepe myrtle that I have on my wish list. :)

I am still planting my annuals in between raindrops.  I hope I can be finished by next week, but I don’t  know! After the pollen invasion is finished there’s a lot of cleaning to do.

Hope all of you are well on your way to completing your seasonal chores!

Kitty won the star pancake molds.  Congrats!

Memorial Day CHALLENGE~ Let’s Dish # 63

Hope everyone is ready for Memorial Day!  It has been hectic here, lots of work going on!  I have been working and working! I am sure many of you have been doing the same, a BUSY time of year!
003
While the deck expansion is going on, the workers showed up to put some sod where the beautiful flowering tree we lost in Sandy was.

I didn’t want to trust just seeding it as the party is in June, and it was quite noticeable.   I did some of the pots, and they are ready to be placed as soon as everything is done.

Tonight is the CHALLENGE, a patriotic table to honor those who gave their lives for our country.  If your table doesn’t follow this theme, you can post it next week.
It has to be tablescape related too!

026
In between all this, I set a table!

I used a patriotic themed cloth and matching napkins via Boscovs.com

Flatware via HG, red ceramic charger PB Outlet, blue dinner, CTree Shops, White star Pfaltzgraff Outlet, sm red bowls CTS.

Red knotted napkin ring from CTS also.

002
A red star plate, wicker basket filled with white, red geraniums and blue lobelia and some flags.
Blue candle holders, .89 CTS

Red stemware, CTS.  Stars clipped on to the glasses as place markers.  I got them years ago and used them in a post, but I couldn’t remember where I got them.  They are tablecloth weights, and Alma reminded me they were from $ Tree.

Gen. Libutti is my childhood friend from Huntington and is a retired US Marine.  He served and was wounded in Vietnam.

I set a place for him, and for a friend from college, Whitey, who was killed in Vietnam.

005
Since the top cloth is a bit skimpy, it was adv as 70, but it was only 60, I used a floor length red cloth under it. (Boscov’s has since corrected the size, but it is not 100%  cotton as stated.
They gave me a partial credit, I will sew  ruffle on it to lengthen it)  I got it on sale, but I see it is back to regular price!

006
011
Patriotic watering cans at each place hold a flag.

They are tooth brush holders, lol, but for .19 cents I knew I would find a use for them.  Alma, do you remember I got them for you too?

I hope to use them down the middle of my July 4 th table and put flowers in them.

The blue and red ceramic fish salt and peppers are from CTS a few weeks ago. The extra blue napkin rings on the table…I forgot to remove!  No, they are to add texture, LOL!

020
I hope I can do the deck/covered porch  reveal soon, I can’t wait to get everything set up!

The shed is getting a spruce up too, a new step and the doors are getting new crossbars.   I did plant the window boxes back there though!

Of course, the pollen is still falling so everything has to be wrapped to protect it from getting green!

Tonight there will be a drawing for a set of star pancake molds from WSonoma.  Just be a follower and leave a comment that you would like in on the drawing.

Getting Ready for Memorial Day? Let’s Dish # 62

Next Wednesday is the Patriotic Challenge.  Hard to believe Memorial Day is weekend is almost here.  It was 42 degrees last night!

I live in a mostly summer community, and Memorial Day means the start of “the season” , something we all look forward to.

There are Memorial Services in town, and here in my community we have a Memorial Service followed by a picnic at our ball field.

Many of the summer rentals begin, and from now till Labor Day the population of Southampton  swells, especially on the weekend.

I do hope with all the anticipation of summer fun beginning, we do not forget the true meaning of Memorial Day!

It has been a busy week here and as I type, construction is going on.

I can’t do a table, so I thought I would show a few of the patriotic tables I have done in the past.  I hope many of you will join in next week with a Patriotic table or collection to share.

Things are Greening Up at Last! Let’s Dish # 60

I know some of you still have snow on the ground , and others are already wearing your flip flops!

This week we had some beautiful Spring days, and things are greening up.  I have been outside working everyday.  This is such a busy time of year getting everything cleaned and painted for the season. Then there is the gardening, it is a full time job!

I wasn’t sure if I would even get a table done!

My table tonight is inspired by the only tree blooming right now, a pear .  This one has a slight aroma, much better than the other pears that bloomed a few weeks ago.

004

My friend Gail was getting rid of these dishes she had used in her hutch for display.  She changed her colors and couldn’t use them anymore.  Lucky me!

005

She also gave me the matching pitcher, which I used for a centerpiece filled with the pear blooms I went out in the rain to cut!

001

I used a round green placemat with a earth colored string placemat on top.  The string mats were 1.00 at CTS.

The flatware is from World Market.  My friend, Susan at Savoring Time in the Kitchen, started me with 4 settings, and then I completed them.

I couldn’t find the right color green napkin to go with the dishes, so I picked up the pink in the flower with a nice soft pink napkin from BBB on clearance.  I think they were .60.

003

The napkin ring is a green string from CTS, .25.

The soup bowl is from CTS also, I think they were 1.00

012

014

The glassware is by Gorham via Lenox Outlet.  Birdies from Pier One.

A simple table , but one that reflects the springification we are finally getting here on Long Island!  Oh yeah, spell check is having a hissy fit on that one!

Thanks Gail!  Everyone wants a friend like Gail, I know!

003

Still looking for the perfect potato au gratin recipe!

004

This was good, but not the best I ever had. Recipe

Do you have one that is excellent?

That’s it for me.

PLEASE REMEMBER…NO WORD ID permitted.  Just turn it off!  :)

Fresh as a Daisy~Let’s Dish #59

Good evening, Ladies, welcome to our weekly dish meeting!

Last week was the challenge and mostly everyone stuck to the theme.  Even though some are still getting snow, blogland was a flutter with birds, bees, flowers and trees!

May’s theme will be  ???  Something we haven’t done yet! Ideas welcome.

045

Yellow and white with a pop of black graces my little table tonight.

I started with a black and white checked tablecloth sent to me by a great  gal from TX.  You can find her here each week with something she whipped up in her Kitchen and presents so prettily on some dishes from her collection.  :)

A round yellow placemat from Kohl’s, pierced charger , part of my birthday gift from Alma.

032

Dinner plate from PB Outlet and salad from HG clearance.  Little ramekin from Target.

037

Yellow napkins via PB Outlet, black and white check I forget, maybe Walmart?  I know I have them in purple too.

Watering can napkin rings are from Dansk many years ago when we had an outlet here in Southampton.  They are metal.

035

Black footed ribbed stem from Pfaltzgraff Clearance, years ago.

The yellow tumbler is by Anthropologie , but I got it for .99 cents in the , yep, .99 store! The little MC pail is from my friend Debbie at Mountain Breaths.

Centerpiece is a ceramic yellow pot I got at Savers filled with daisy mums.  I put it on a plate from the clearance at HG, .70.

Pale yellow candles. White flatware is cheapo stuff from Walmart.  Don’t sneeze, it will move!  I did invest in some better ones that I used last week.

039

040

Small white tureen from Thrift Shop, and white ceramic s & p from Pfaltzgraf 1.00 sale.

046

Little daisy glass scatters are from the Villeroy and Boch Outlet, which also closed.  :(

Hungry?

005

I wanted to use the holders I got in HG clearance for our wraps.

Grilled chicken, carmelized onions, shredded lettuce and bacon, shredded cheddar , drizzled with blue cheese dressing.

004

002

One more thing!

Remember that roll of fabric I showed you from an outlet I go to called RuLi here on LI?

004

I took Alma there at the end of the summer and we both bought yards of this to use for tablecloths.  $2.00 a yard.

Here’s a little preview of it on a table…a work in progress.

003

Or white flatware?  Which?

001

The napkins match perfectly, and I am going to use all white with it.  A summer party in the making.  :)

Thanks for stopping by, I do appreciate your visits and comments.

Again, thanks to all those who took the challenge.

Same rules as always.  Remember this is a dish party, so if you show food, you have to show it in a setting.

If you don’t know the rules, they are here.
