Scratch you head and ask yourself that question!
I found these last year at the WSonoma /PBarn outlet and used it in a “tropical” table setting.
I got these napkins at a yard sale, and knew what the centerpiece would be…
Lilies and Baby’s Breath from my yard.
But I’ll be a monkey’s uncle, cause I got 5 emails from future brides who wanted to know where to get the monkey!
So are jungle theme weddings popular? I have never been to one!
One of my favorite things is fresh blueberries.
I have one small bush, and I am fiercely protecting the berries from the birds with netting. I wonder if I will have enough to make a blueberry cheese tart?
It would be perfect for a Summer Sunday !
For the Blueberry Tart I used Puff Pastry, Pepperidge Farm.
Sweeten the fresh blueberries with sugar, cinnamon and some fresh lemon jce.
Soften abt 8 oz cream cheese, mix with sugar, vanilla and a dollop of sour cream.
Spread on top the dough which you have pressed into a tart pan.
Top with the blueberries, then bake till golden.
Enjoy! Perfect with peaches or cherries too!
A cup of coffee, out on the porch, looking at these beautiful lilies are my favorite things for this Summer Sunday!
I hope you enjoy yours!

Kathleen, I love your table!
ReplyDeleteThe blueberry cheese tart looks delish. We've eaten lots of blueberries, this summer. Ours are all from the grocer! I made the ST Louis Bread Co, strawberry, with blueberries salad again this evening. Love it!
Happy weekend!
Hmmmm...a jungle theme for a wedding, well tropical if anything. I like the napkin rings a lot, but for a wedding? {I'm scratching my head, Kathleen!}
ReplyDeleteYour lily's are gorgeous! Mine grow more sporadically, yours look like a bouquet...beautiful. Have a great weekend! :-)
xoxo
Janie

ReplyDeleteIt's a green table...you know I ♥ it! I can't believe your gorgeous lilies, they are so copious!
ReplyDeleteKathleen, your table looks so pretty, and I love the monkies. Where did you find those? Where did that expression originate - I'll be a monkey's uncle? You've got me smiling - again. Lovin those tropical napkins. Good luck with your pretty blueberries. the squirrels got the only tomato that my vine has produced - GRRRR. Your lillies are gorgeous! Thank you for linking to Favorite Things Sat. laurie
ReplyDeleteGotta laugh at the monkeys! Wishing you the best of luck with the blueberries, at my last job one vendor was from Jersey and he'd bring FLATS of them in for us-oh boy! And your lilies are fabulous-I'd love a cup of coffee enjoying that beauty too-enjoy!

ReplyDeleteHi Kathleen,
ReplyDeleteEverything is so beautiful and original. What did you feed those lilies? I've never seen such beautiful ones. Thanks for sharing.
Anne-Marie
Your lilies are gorgeous, Kathleen. And the monkeys are so cute. I don't blame the brides to be to fall in love with them. I love your jungle or tropical tablescape...Christine
ReplyDeleteYep...me, too...scratching my head about a jungle wedding!! Seems a little strange to me but then again, I don't get out much !! :)
ReplyDeleteYou do find the bestest things at that WS Outlet...wish we had one in this podunk town I live in. No WS, Marshalls, Homegoods....bummer. I am so mistreated and abused...
And, I DON'T HAVE THOSE BEAUTIFUL LILIES, EITHER !! Think I'll just go back to bed and pull the covers over my poor mistreated self.
hugs!!
Jungle weddings ?? These kids these days....we should never be shocked....LOL !
ReplyDeleteLove your table and that blueberry yummy tray........where do you live ? That's right, I know...hee hee...be right there to have a BIG piece...LOL !
You have the most beautiful flowers growing in your yard !
Hugs ~ Kammy
Wow, to have blueberries growing in your garden...how lucky are you? I love the whimsical little monkey. There is no end to the imagination of brides these days. Your table setting is very inviting. Have a wonderful summer!
ReplyDeleteBlueberry tart looks great! I hope you can save your berries from the birds! For someone who doesn't like animals, you sure do get a lot of visitors :)
ReplyDeleteNeat table setting..those leaf placemats are different! Your tart looks delicious. Hey..I saw that you got a new camera. Have fun tinkering.
ReplyDeleteLove blueberries!!! The tart looks so good. Great tablescape!!!
ReplyDeleteHello Kathleen~Hmmm, how about... hints of jungle with infusion of lush tropical paradise, although the monkey is adorably unique.
ReplyDeleteNothing says summer like summer fruit. We had fresh blueberries and raspberries served over pound cake and ice cream. I use jam mixed with the fruit in place of glaze. It was our red, white and blue, dessert out of many for the Fourth of July, lol.
I would greatly appreciate the recipe for the scrumptious looking Blueberry cheese Tart.
How is is ala mode?
Sweet wishes,
Sara
P.S. What store did you find the $2.25 lined baskets?
ReplyDeleteMy fear is it's Publix, which we don't have ;(
Sweet wishes,
Sara
Hi Kathleen! I love the tablescape...especially those monkeys! And your blueberry tart looks wonderful! They are my favorite fruit...little encapsulated bits of summer! They used to come in season just as school got out and go away when it started again...so I loved seeing them at the store! And about my trip...I already knew Barb and Kathysue so I wasn't at total risk of a week with weird strangers! lol Happy weekend...hugs...Debbie
ReplyDeleteOh PLEEASEEE Come to Atlanta in August! We are having another Atlanta bloggers gathering at my house then!
ReplyDeleteHi Kathleen
ReplyDeleteThe monkey makes a cute place holder ..I can see brides wanting them to hold table number cards if they have a tropical themed wedding.
My daughter-in-law's sister had a "country" themed wedding and she used an old wooden storm door to hold her table number cards..it was really sweet. Anything goes these days :-)
I have one blueberry bush in a big pot and so far I've gotten one berry ...lol! Maybe in a few years as it grows.
Love that tart!
The tart looks delicious!!...
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely jungle theme table and the monkeys and napkins are great. The blueberry tart made my mouth water. Have a wonderful Sunday and eat a slice of the tart for me.
ReplyDeleteOh my, such luscious photos! And a delectable-looking dish as well!
ReplyDeleteBrenda
Oh my goodness the TART!! Here I am drooling all over the keyboard! Loving Summer Sunday--Jacqueline
ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable monkey! That's me trying to figure out what to cook!!
ReplyDeleteDonna
The table certainly is a tropic beauty! I love blueberries too - no bushes here but they were on sale for a $1/pint this week so I bought 3 pints :)
ReplyDeleteThose star gazer lilies are the prettiest plant I have ever seen of them! Great post
I like the way you give a recipe. It is casual and no fuss just like cooking should be.
ReplyDeleteThe monkeys are adorabe and the torte looks DELICIOUS!!!
ReplyDeleteMan that looks good. I will definately give that one a try!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for being a part of Summer Sundays!

I love the table scape, and especially the place mats. Thanks for the quick and simple recipe for the blueberry tart - it is a very impressive dessert but so easy to make!
ReplyDeleteJungle theme weddings! I've never been to one of those, but I did attend a rehearsal dinner at the zoo this past year. The couple was off to Africa on safari for their honeymoon. Clever idea!
ReplyDeleteI like that little guy! ~ Sarah
