It’s Friday, time to join dear ML at Designs by Gollum for Foodie Friday..And my old friend Suzy at Kitchen Bouquet for Flashback Friday..Thank you dear ladies!
First the plate..by Paula Dean..she makes plates too? What a gal! :)
Cute! Even cuter..the price..
Add a chicken and swiss pannini…
Some fresh cole slaw in a cute little polka dot bowl from CTS..1.29
My Experiments..
Ok so the brown bananas were piling up in the container in the frig..
And I had 2 pans I got at WS outlet on sale before Easter I hadn’t tried…
You know I didn’t pay that they were half off and then I had a coupon..
So I baked up those bananas using the same recipe I have used forever, and…
Cute little Banana Bread bites…and
Flower shaped banana cupcakes dipped in chocolate icing and my attempt to copy theirs, with whipped cream..
But wait, I had to make a triple recipe of banana bread to use up the bananas, so I used my Tiara pan, the one so many of us got free years ago from Duncan Hines….
I filled the middle with chocolate pudding, and piped on the whipped cream…
On a pretty lavender blue cake plate ..I got half price, 3.50 at CTS..
Have a slice?
I took the next shot INSIDE the frig…a chilly light box…LOL
Bargain Hunting with Laurie’s Favorite Things is Saturday she wants you to come..:)

Great looking experiments! That cake looks so good, I'd love a big slice!
Ok, the girl I work with would die to hear this but, you are the Queen of discounts! Everything looks great enjoy!
ReplyDeleteAwesome pan. Love what you did. Is there a difference between a banana muffin and a banana cupcake? frosting?
ReplyDelete- The Tablescaper
So Cake Decorator is another one of the hats you wear!! Love it!

You did a GREAT job duplicating the picture and took it a step further with that gorgeous cake! Stacking up unused WS bargains is strictly forbidden :. Does "Mr. Cuisine" know about your relationship with Bill? :)
ReplyDeleteI could bargain hunt forever and not come up with good deals like that.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun those baking pans are. Were they really hard to clean?
I also really liked the green plate. Very pretty.
Wow! You have been a baking and shopping queen. I love the mini cupcake pan and the Paula Deen plate is soooo cute! Joni
ReplyDeleteWhat goodies! Love all you've been doing -- those banana bites and your panini and coleslaw on your special plate!

Your banana bread cakes and the paninni all look so good I truly want to live at your house and let you cook for me!
ReplyDeleteKathleen, how do you do it? You make the prettiest food! I need to steal these photos and put them on my table for my April Showers party I had today! Lovin that cute yellow poka dot plate and bowl (and the price!). Thanks so much for advertising Favorite Things. You're the best! laurie

ReplyDeleteYou've been busy kiddo:) Great buys!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your little cupcake pan! I would have bought it too. Thanks for your comment on my blog. I am not the one with dd looking for a job, so wanted to let you know that. Am going to cruise your blog, it looks like fun and good things to eat! I will follow you.
ReplyDeleteThanks! :)
Barb
You sure that Paula Deen plate isn't made of buttah, it is yellow!
ReplyDeleteI think I have that same pan you made the banana bread bites in but only used it once or twice as everything seemed to stick in it. I love the cake pedestal...my monitor makes it look aqua, very pretty.
Have a great weekend!
Gorgeous food, plates n things, and fabulous bargains, Kathleen. I've never found anything at Home Goods for .70. I'm going to have to look closer!
ReplyDeleteIf I could get plates at that price there wouldn;t be room in my entire house to store all of them. Now I wish we had a Home Goods nearby..
ReplyDeleteLove your new pan - you are going to get alot of use out of that..I'm partial to the bite sized concoctions. They may be a pain since you get so many but I'd rather have those than a big normal cupcake.
Your artistry looks fantastic..they have nothing on you!
About the only thing Paula Deen hasn't mastered yet is her extreme Southern drawl. Don't worry about her though. Nowadays, she pays people to care. Hah.
ReplyDeleteCute plates, Kathleen! And I like its contents just as much.
Kathleen...great finds and even great food!! I so wish we had a Home Goods somewhere close (I'm going on my next trip to MN this summer). I love the Paula dishes and aren't they sweet with those little pokey-dotted bowls! Panini looks delish :) and that little cupcake pan is wonderful :)
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
Gail
I'm in love with those dishes!!! What good sales you found! And great idea on making the banana bites - I should try that sometime.

ReplyDeleteHi Kathleen,
ReplyDeleteThe polkadot dishes are adorable.
and 70 cent, oh my heavens!!
That panini looks good but it can't hold a candle to that cake. I wanted to cut a slice out of the computer and get me some!! lol
Those lil bites were so cute too.
Think you could email me some????
Have a great weekend,
Blessings, Nellie

ReplyDeleteWe went to see him tonight and he does seem some better, but they are waiting to hear from his bone marrow test to see what stage he is in,
and as soon as they can whip this pneumonia they will start chemo.
His poor wife is so exhausted, I am praying she doesn't get sick on top of everything else.
Have a great weekend, and thanks for praying it is so appreciated.
Blessings, Nellie
I LOVE the polka dot dishes! They are so springy! The food looks amazing as well. What amazing tables you always have.
ReplyDeleteKathleen, why don't you link this post to Favorite Things? I miss you on my Fav. Things list. laurie
ReplyDeleteI love the polka dots--not that the deliciousness you put on them needs any help!! Alas, we do not have a Home Goods anywhere near as far as I can determine. I love dishes--and bargains are good.
ReplyDeleteBest,
Bonnie
Kathleen, that a lot of delicious banan bread cake! Don't you love all the wonderful different shaped baking pans WS sells in that outlet? I have so many. Where did you find a WS coupon?
ReplyDeleteThe Paula Deen poka dot dish is so cute and goes so well with the CTS one. You find the best things!

Jillian had surgery on Wednesday. They couldn't do what was planned. Instead, they had to replace her aorta. I cannot imagine what that would entail. She's in a lot of pain and really needs continued prayer. If all goes well, she will have the originally planned surgery in six months. Hard to comprehend what this little three year old and her family are going through. Thank you for asking and please continue to keep her in your healing thoughts and prayer.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I see you are a Jan Karon fan. I'm ready for a new book!
Best,
Bonnie
Girl, you sure know how to have some fun!! I love it all. My hubby just threw out a bunch of the bananas in the freezer. because they kept trying to fall out on his foot. lol
ReplyDeleteHi Kathleen! How come I never get deals like that? Take me along next time you go shopping, will ya? All that food looks so delicious. I wish we were neighbors!...Christine
ReplyDeleteYou get the best deals around for sure. 75 cents! I don't know anywhere to buy anything for less than a dollar even on super duper sale. Love the banana chocolate combo. How was it? Great use of your old pan. Thanks for joining me with the flashback :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Kathleen,
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting and following my blog! Retired teacher? I can't WAIT. Will be entering my first year of DROP on October 27th. DROP is a program to retain teachers for three additional years. I LOVE your Paula Deen dshes. I saw those babies at the gift shop at the Paula Deen buffet in Tunica. And they "shore" didn't go cheap, can I tell ya?
OK, what day can we shop together? I'll pay for lunch! What a fun and inspiring post...I am going to try harder to find a deal! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great list of favorite things! I agree with you on everything especially the cinn/raisin bread - I will have to try this recipe sometime.
