A Look Back to Christmas Past, Part 1

Tomorrow is Dec. 1st, hard to believe.

I am joining my friend The Tablescaper for Seasonal Sunday, a look at Christmas Past.

Actually, I don’t change my décor that much from year to year.  That’s part of the tradition of Christmas, doing many things the same way from year to year.

The Christmas mantel…

I have a double mantel that dh built when we built this house 12 years ago.

The Precious Moments Nativity always goes there, surrounded by a mixture of faux and fresh greens.  I use oasis for the fresh greens and fresh flowers, and weave lights throughout.

Another tradition is my front porch.

After all, Santa needs a place to sit and cool off after squeezing down the chimney in that hot suit.

Our home would not be complete without a Nativity, and  outside must have one too!

A light in every window to welcome the Christ child’s arrival on the 25th.

I have always wanted to put every Christmas table I have ever done in one place, and tomorrow I hope to do just that!

Thanks for visiting, be sure to check out The  Tablescaper’s  Seasonal Sunday .

  8. Hi Kathleen,

I don't change up a lot at Christmas either for the very reason you've stated. I like the traditions of the season. However, I am doing a few changes this year, and I think it will be fun. I never change our trees, though.

I love all the plaid on your porch; I've enjoyed seeing everyone's pretty plaids in these posts. I never get tired of tartan plaids. :) Your mantel looks really beautiful -- I bet it's fun to decorate.

I look forward to seeing all your previous Christmas tables, Kathleen, and I hope your hubby is still recovering nicely from his illness. Visiting from Seasonal Sundays; have a great day!

  12. I'm with you--I love the tradition of decorating the same way each year. I might add one or two new finds, but the ritual of unwrapping each item after a whole year is just as exciting. It's like visiting "old friends".

  13. Your home looks so warm & inviting with all your beautiful Christmas decorations, Kathleen!
I'm ashamed that I forgot to show or even mention my nativity scene. Me devout Irish Catholic mother will be rollin' in her grave!

I sure hope that Christmas is a much better holiday for you & Mike.

    Hugs,
    Rett
