I've gone through my share of mixers over the years.
I have a KA stand mixer as well as a DeLongi 7 qt. stand mixer.
When I did catering I needed both. You can't make 70 loaves of Irish Soda Bread in one night without a second mixer. Well, you could, but I had to go to work the next morning, and I did need to sleep! :)
You always need a hand mixer. I had one of Wolfgang Puck's that had 3 beaters which I loved, but it puckered out on me. (BTW, did anyone see old Wolfie on HSN recently where he shared a little too much info about his sex life and also used inappropriate language?) I bet he gets a little talking to about it!
So I bought this...
Kitchen Aid, many speeded wonder. NOT!
Pitiful power, took forever to whip the cream.
Didn't deserve space in my cabinet!
I bought this one, for one fourth the price of the KA.
I got it in CTS and I had a coupon so it came to about 15 dollars.
Great power, and even a little bowl scraper that snaps on.
I don't know how long it will last, but while it has life, I am happy!
Our 41st Anniversary was Monday. A dear friend died suddenly so we didn't celebrate, but DH did make a batch of Blueberry Apple Muffins for our breakfast.
He does make the best muffins, and he won't even give me the recipe he made up. He IS the Muffin Man for sure! :)
I haven't been able to visit much the last week, life comes first, blogging gets put on hold. Plus my keyboard sometimes starts typing on its own in a very strange language. My son hooked up a new wifi so I could use my ipad, and somehow the keyboard is throwing fits!
Hope to be back for Tablescape Thursday, God willing.
Thanks for stopping by!
Happy Anniversary, dear Kathleen! Sorry about the loss of your friend.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite breakfast food is a muffin! Your guys look great!
I missed you, Kathleen, but I understand. Those muffins look delish. I love blueberry anything! Just thinking I could have been ordering your delicious food when you were in business :-) xo,
ReplyDeleteOops, I wanted to wish you and your DH a happy anniversary! xo,
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary to you and the Muffin Man! Would that make him your Stud Muffin?
ReplyDeleteKathleen, sorry to hear about the loss of your dear friend. My thoughts are with you. And happy belated anniversary! How many years have you and "the muffin man" been together?
ReplyDeleteI've had my little hand mixer for years. I use it more often than pulling out the Kitchen Aide. ;-)
Hugs to you ~ Sarah
Sorry for your loss. The muffin man?? hmmm, I must have done something wrong because my man has never made one muffin! Good for you!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads up on that KA mixer. I was just looking at one at Sur la Table recently. Glad to know its a dud. Those are very delicious looking muffins. Hope you and hubby had a nice anniversary despite the circumstances.
ReplyDeleteOh I have that same Wolfgang Puck 3 thingie mixer. I never have felt the wire beaters worked as good as the blade type. I use my KA unless it is a small whip job and the last couple of times I used the WP hand mixer, it sounded like it was grinding to a slow death. I won't get another hand mixer with wire beaters.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry you lost your friend. :(

Hi Kathleen, I've been out of contact too. So sorry about your friend. I hope all the family is getting support and love. And happy anniversary to you and the MM. My hubby would never make the muffins. His expertise is on the grill. My laptop is still going crazy too! I have had to turn it off several times this evening to stop the keyboard from typing by itself. Hope to see your tablescape on Thursday. Linda
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary.....and that muffin looks too good
ReplyDeleteMy goddaughter died yesterday at the age of 32. I am so very sad. Sad about your friend, too. I want Sweet Mister to be a Muffin Man, too. He does make a great breakfast for Sunday night dinner though. Does your iPad also have the 3G feature. It shouldn't matter if you have wifi hooked up, if it does. I adore my iPad. I had my grandmother's 1940's stand mixer until about five years ago. It finally gave up the ghost. Now I use my mother's mixer from the 60's. Someday, I'll have to buy my own. Thank you for sharing your slice of life. Cherry Kay
ReplyDeleteI agree...the KA mixer is awful. I traded it in after months of frustration.
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary!
I am So Sorry about your Dear Friend. That is very hard to cope with. I understand putting off your anniversary, BUT, I'm sending you a BIG HUG anyway and a "Happy Anniversary"!
ReplyDeleteAfter wasting lots of money on the So Called BEST gadgets for the kitchen. SOME I buy as "Throw always"... Hand mixers are one of them. Toasters another, and my coffee maker that is in use ALMOST 24/7... I've had "THE BEST", and they were "THE WORST"...I totally agree with you! NOW about "Wolfie", I have seen him in the past use his "Bad Behavior" and I think they let him get away with it.
I hope you can have a relaxing weekend... Those Muffins look SO YUMMY, "DARN" I was hoping to get the recipe...
Big Hugs to you,
Donna
You're the second person to give the hand held KA a thumbs down! I have a 225 watt GE I picked up at Walmart for less than $20 10 years ago, that thing has the heart of a lion! Didn't hear about Wolfgang but now I'm curious:@)
ReplyDeleteHappy Anny K! So sorry to hear about your friend, take care!
My husband always says that the enemy of good is better ;P
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you have joined my unhappy world of technological terrorism. It stinks, doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteI'm glad for the review for both hand mixers. I'm in need of a new hand one. I finally got a new stand mixer a few months ago.
I love my little cheapy handheld mixer. I figured if it dies out I haven't lost much...only it just keeps on going like the energizer bunny! LOL! I've never seen the 3 beater handheld from Wolfgang..hmm?? That is too funny about him, I wish I had seen it. I have a big set of his stainless steel pot and pans and untensils..love them!
ReplyDeleteNaughty Wolfgang! He may need a 'time-out', LOL. Too about about your little KA flop - I hope you can get your money back.
ReplyDeleteSo sad about your friend but love your hubby's gesture of sweet muffins. I can't believe he won't even give you the recipe (or us)! They look wonderful.
Hi Honey!
ReplyDeleteI know you weren't up to celebrating very much but I think making it to 41 years with the same man deserves a standing ovation!!! ~~clap-clap-clap~~ BRAVO & Kudos to you both for you love & patience & perseverance!
Would you believe I'm using DH's ex-wife's hand-held mixer & we'll be married 25 years in another 8 months!! Its a little workhorse & much easier than dragging out my KA stand one.
They make a rubber edged spatula type beater for the KA's. I've been meaning to get one for DD & myself both. Should have thought of that before Mothers day. :/
Hugs,
Rett
ps. Couldn't you BRIBE your Mr. Muffin Man with SOMETHING?????? *wink*
I'm with Rett...a little black nighty and some soft music and MUFFIN MAN will give you anything you ask for. WE NEED THAT RECIPE..!! You get busy cookin' and you KNOW what I mean. :)))
ReplyDeleteand...HAPPIEST ANNIVERSARY.
love, bj
Sorry about the sudden death of your friend...
ReplyDeleteMay God comfort you and the family...
Wow! Congrats on 41 years! That is something to celebrate anytime this year...
O, and just realized I have this same hand mixer..blogged about it a few months back. The best one I've ever had...
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry for the loss of your friend!
ReplyDeleteTell your DH that his muffins look good enough to make me reconsider my diet! A very Happy Anniversary to you and best wishes for many more happy years together!
