Only another week or so before my hydrangeas will be totally done. Many of them fried due to the heat, but I can still spot a few shy ones hidden in the shade.
Now is the time to dry them, just put them in a small amount of water and let it evaporate.
There is another method with glycerin, but I have never done it. Anyone?
I like to make wreaths with them, and use them around a hurricane candle.
You can save some to spray for Halloween…
Or gold…
Bad pic, but they are sprayed gold and tucked in with the other flowers.
Tonight’s table…
Tablecloth from WSonoma Outlet.
Green mat, pale green plate, pink flower shaped bowl…
Lime green napkin with a pink paisley design , green swirl flatware.
Lime green fish napkin ring, WS outlet.
Little rose flowerpot place card holders.
Green stemware, Lenox, lime green hydrangea with pink roses as the centerpiece.
When I went shopping last week with my friend A, we talked about savory and sweet.
So for Foodie and Flashback Fri., I am showing these Savory peach tarts.
A mini pie pan …press in the pie crust, fill with fresh peaches, feta cheese, toasted walnuts , a little chopped red onion, and a drizzle of honey and balsamic vinegar. Bake till the crust is brown. Tasty, and easy!
This tart is a good way to use all those cherry tomatoes that are ripening now.
Puff pastry pressed into a tart pan, halved cherry tomatoes, red onion, feta cheese and crumbled bacon.
Bake till crust is golden brown.
I am joining Susan for Between Naps on the Porch for Tablescape Thursday, and Foodie Friday at Designs by Gollum. I am also joining Suzy at Kitchen Bouquets for Flashback Friday.
Thanks for stopping by!

ReplyDeleteWhat a happy table with the pretty paisley textile! Kathleen, I've got dried hydragenas from six years ago. It's amazing how long they last. I need to try painting some. I really like the way you used them around the hurricane candle holder. ~ Sarah
ReplyDeleteThis is so coincidental because I made tarts today- but they were lemon, not peach. Yours look HEAPS better than mine though- ha ha!

I can't begin to tell you how much that pink and green table appeals to me. I LOVE pink of all shades, and that particular shade, with that shade of green, is an all time favorite.
ReplyDeleteThe fact that you used a beautiful linen of paisley (one of my favorite patterns) is the icing on the cake.
I just really love this one.
(I also LOVE the black sprayed hydrangeas! Now, THAT's clever. I wish that I had some hydrangeas in my yard to dry.)

ReplyDeleteIt is all so gorgeous. I never thought of painting the hydrangeas. I'm lovin' it. Gonna 'harvest' mine today. They were a nice pink, but are a little faded at this point. And I am definitely going to try the sweet and savory tart. Can't wait.

Hi Kathleen! What lovely tables and designs with the hydrangeas. Lovin the lime and pink. Those recipes look sooo yummy too.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy you got to stop by my blog today and became a friend. If you come by again you'll notice yourself on my blog list on the sidebar. Now that we know where we are in Blogland, let's not be strangers!
Just looking at your post makes me smile. The colors in the tablecloth just make your table setting zing. I tried hard to pick out one thing I especially liked but just like all of it. This is a very coordinated tablescape.
ReplyDeleteKathleen:
ReplyDeleteI love this table. The colors are so bright and crisp. Great napkin rings and you already know how much I love the place card holders. Just a great all around table.
Thanks so much for another view of the peach tarts and the inspiration for the cherry tomatoe one. I love how you throw things together and they come out simply magnificent.

Yes the hydrangeas have had a tough time this summer and they were so great this spring with all the rain we had then.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't make sense to glycerin them it's way too expensive.
I think that's the prettiest table I've seen you do. All the colors are fabulous.

Carole
Gorgeous tablesettings and delicious food, Kathleen.
ReplyDeleteMy hydrangeas are just about done for. There are a couple down in the shade, but they are pretty pitiful.
Just coming back to say I LOVE your new header.!! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for your kind comments for my latest post. BTW, we have a wonderful store that carries the entire Mackenzie-Childs line. www.onawhimokc.com They periodically have sales...that's when I picked up my Courtly Check...also asked the family to give me gift certificates for a couple of Christmases and birthdays. Didn't take too long at all. I mainly wanted the chargers, not the dinner plates, etc. + some serving pieces. I even incorporated them in my Christmas table last year. I may choose to do that again for at least a couple of events. Such fun! Cherry Kay
ReplyDeleteWow! Your table is just beautiful. I love the colors, the tablecloth, the flowers and all the special detail. I am going to have to see if there is a William Sonoma outlet somewhere near me. Thanks for visiting my blog and for your kind comment.
ReplyDeleteI had to come back and tell you I love what you did with the hydrangea. I am going to cut what is left in my yard soon and try to dry them. Your food looks so yummy too.
ReplyDeleteI have tried to dry my hydrangeas but they just go limp and don't seem to dry out nicely :(
ReplyDeleteYour tablescape is so pretty. I love those colors together and those little napkin rings are just darling. My weakness you know, is napkin rings :)
I've been around and I've been stopping by but have to busy to leave messages to any one. I know how bad of me. I'm trying to be better.
Hugs,
Joanne
Lovely and colorful table. I love the way the pink and green play so nicely together.
ReplyDeleteWe were upstate all week, and I thought of you when we went to the County Fair - even the blue ribbon winners for tablescapes had nothing on you! You'd have swept every single category!
ReplyDeleteYou could give me a run for my money with all the table settings you have! I have many, but nothing compared to your amazing collection. Lovely setting! What time should I be there for dinner/
ReplyDeleteI just love this all - the table cloth and napkins seem French, and I ADORE your twisted handle flatware!!!!
ReplyDeleteAlso, your rose placecard holds - fabulous idea!
Thank you!
Kathleen, this is such a delightful table! Love the color combo. Love the place card holders, the fish napkin rings, the napkins, the cloth - okay, I love it all! Have you used that flatware before? I don't remember it. I love it too! I'm going back to look at this table again. I'm going to avoid looking at that food. It made me sooo hungry! laurie
ReplyDeleteOK, I'm back. Where did you find that flatware? Do you know the brand name? I'm coveting it. laurie
ReplyDeletePink is my favorite color and I just love your paisley tablecloth. The lime green compliments it fabulously. Everything looks so wonderful on your tablescape. I especially like the pink flower-shaped bowls and the place card holders.
ReplyDeleteStop over at tablescapingescapades.blogspot.com. I'm having my first give-a-way.
All the Best,
