Unfashionably Late, Favorite Things, Mother’s Day

Sheila at Note Songs is having a party.  It is a Bathroom Beauty snapper.  I know, I didn’t know what to think either.  You have to take a pic in the mirror.  Apparently some of the veteran bloggers have been doing this for years, snapping in beautiful hotel bathrooms etc.

I wasn’t going to do it, but gave in at the last minute.

Remember the Unknown comic?  The guy with the brown grocery bag on his head??

You know I have a penchant of WSonoma Outlet, so for Sheila’s party, I thought this would be appropriate..

table 3956Here’s your invite..

table 3953  And a special flower for you!  :)

table 3954A gift..I love them, don’t dry your hands on them! Just shake your hands and blow on them, they’ll dry!

table 3955We live here all year round, so I don’t know if it qualifies…:)

Stop over to see the other Divas Bathroom Shots at Note Songs…

Laurie’s is hysterical!

For her Favorite Things  meme I picked this..

table 3880

Like I said..I PICKed them , Lily of the Valley..

I love their aroma, and they remind me of my mom..who loved flowers and had beautiful gardens..and was a wonderful mom to her four girls.

I remember the clematis climbing the hooks and strings she fashioned on the side of the house…the amazing roses..She was never too tired to help anyone, and no one was out of the way for her!

For our dance recitals , although we wanted the bouquets from the florist , she made ours..nosegays filled with peonies and roses..

table 850

And I continue the tradition for my little gdau., Lily.    When I can beat the deer to my flowers, ie!:)

Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful mothers and aunts out there..

A special thanks to the mothers whose sons and daughters  are serving our country..God bless you!

  2. Kathleen, I knew it, you are a bag lady!
Very nice tribute to your mother. I love the nosegay, even though it has pink flowers and ribbons. Lilies of the valley do have an intoxicating smell...reminds me of when I was little, picking big bunches for my mother.
Have a wonderful Mother's Day, my friend, let the men in your life wait on you!

  11. You are so funny!

I love your flowers. Very pretty. Did you grow them? Wow!

My mom died 22 years ago, even though it seems like only yesterday. I really miss her and this year, mother's day seems to be a hard one to get through for some reason.

I do hope you have a wonderful day, you so deserve it.

    Hugs,
    Joanne

Love your post of all the flowers -I think the tradition for Lily and homemade nosegays is wonderful..ANYONE can go buy flowers but it takes someone very special to make something with their own hands!

If you find your Followers, ask if they know anything about my FaceBook page being in HUNGARIAN last night. I couldn't read a word of it...beating thing I have ever seen. I tried for an hour to get it translated but...nope. Then, this morning...back to normal. The world of computers scare the, uh,...heck outa me sometimes.

  18. Hi Kathleen - You certainly put a smile on my face with that 'bag' shot...LOL
Happy Mother's Day to you my dear friend. Today is bitter sweet for me since it is the first Mother's Day since my youngest son decided to become estranged from me. But I will count my blessings and surround myself with the love of my oldest son, his girlfriend that is expecting my first grandchild and many other wonderful family members.
I'm wishing you a wonderful Day.
    Hugs,
    Tam

  34. Oh, to be near a W-S outlet! There's a store on just about every corner here (or so it seems) but not an outlet. I've been to the outlet in Memphis in years past but it's the only one I know of and nine+ hours is a bit far to travel for a bargain!!

    Lovely flowers.

    Best,
    Bonnie

  36. If you're going to be a bag lady you may as well wear your favorite ;) I had some Lilies of the Valley on our dinner table yesterday too. You'll have to teach us how to make that rose! Nice way to pretty up the bathroom ;)
