An Apple a Day~Tablescape Thursday

It was a busy week..

My sister and her dh from TX came to for a visit ..I hadn't seen her in over a year, so we had lots of talking to do! It was wonderful to see her, and the 3 surviving sisters got to spend some time on Sunday. We hope next June we will all be able to get together for a family reunion. Time flies!

It was also my gson's 4th Birthday, we had the party here so my family could spend some time together...

Since it was the last day of summer, warm and beautiful, I went with an apple theme.
After all, my gkids are the apples of my eye..:)



I served buffet style from the kitchen island for the party..







But I did a tablescape before I put the dishes back till next year..


The centerpiece is a metal wagon filled with faux apples, greens and live mums...

Green stems and waters from Lenox..



Nantucket baskets with a small apple at each place..





The white embossed candlesticks are from Villeroy and Boch, basement clearance..
Dark green candles..ceramic apple salt and peppers...



I used Apple dishes, deep red square mats, dark green napkins...white chargers from Noritake







And since it was a Birthday Party..we needed some candy corn in a Candy Corn bowl. Set of 3 Candy corn bowls from Christmas Tree Shops..I love that store!

Filet Mignon with mushrooms and onions

Red potatoes with butter and parsley

Choc /choc cake with whipped cream

Fresh Jersey Peach pie with vanilla ice cream

Banana bread and Blueberry peach muffins...

The dishes I got a few years ago at Christmas Tree Shops..15 dollars for service for 12...I use them once a year...The Nantucket baskets are from there too, there is a glass insert for a candle or for flowers..got them half price for a dollar a few weeks ago..The apple platter and side dishes are by Pfaltzgraff.

Cloche Party~Flashback and Foodie Friday

May we never forget 9/11/01..


The thousands who lost their lives,

the endless funerals and memorials.

The pages and pages of Obituaries in the local paper..

Impossible not to know someone who perished..

The cars at the train station...haunting monuments to the owners who never returned home that day..

It seems like yesterday...

May they rest in peace...

We are having work done, and I can't access my fall bins..um, they are buried!

So this is the best I could do! Like Laurie at Bargain Hunting, I didn't want to miss the party!

I thought I would share this Fall piece I got last year at the Lenox Outlet...a Fall cake plate



I love the base, rounded..with a leaf design..





I don't remember the exact price, but with my coupon it was in the 20's...

For my Flashback and Foodie Friday I am using this pear tart...Pears are abundant now..
Couldn't be EASIER..

Buy frozen puff pastry..
Unroll and press into fluted tart pan with removable bottom..
Peel the pears.
Slice them..
Toss with cinnamon and sugar..
Place in pan and brush with preserves, I used Mango...

Bake...whatever the puff pastry pkg says for the temp...

Serve with fresh whipped cream..( no need for the shamrock in Sept.. :) )

Free Dishes~ Tablescape Thursday

I am happy to be back with Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for Tablescape Thursday!



DELL left me unable to post last week..and charged me for the inconvenience! :(

My friend Pam knows how I love dishes. Her friend was moving and leaving behind these cute dishes..reminds me of sponge art..

I started with these..



They are cotton, reversible..from Pottery Barn..and they are square pillow covers..marked down to .99.
I use them for placemats!



I found this blue and white flatware at WSonoma outlet...and thought it went well with the dishes..5.95 for service for 4...



I used navy blue napkins and white porcelain chicken napkin rings..WSonoma really a great sale..it is my middle name you know..:)



Blue ice cream soda glass, Pfaltzgraf, with white and blue hydrangeas...dark blue candles, blue stems and Bee glass from CTS, which I showed in an earlier post..



Dark blue serving plates, Pfaltzgraff clearance, I think they were 2.00 and the oval bowls were 1.00,
white pitcher by Godinger via HG's!
White chargers are from Noritake clearance store and they were 2.00





And that's my thrifty every day dinner table for this week...and yes, we ate dinner there..:)

Caught a SALE!!! Mosaic Monday

I am trying a short post. Everything in my computer is in a different spot, and I am having a hard time getting things back to normal...


The DELL Saga would take a whole post, and the story continues...I think they should rename themselves HELL..because that is what you go through!! :(

You know I frequent the WSonoma outlet...Several of the sales people know me as I am there so much. (And THAT is NOT a GOOD thing, Martha!)
Sometimes you find something good...and I did..

I received an email about their Labor Day weekend sale...and as I was on my way home from a visit to my sis, I detoured and made a quick drop in! I never go on the weekend, and a Holiday weekend, no way..just too much traffic...

So for the last few months they have had these Large Apilco, made in France Lion's Head covered bowls...$99.00

Ouch, no way, ever, under any circumstances...

BUT the email said SALE...



I ran in, but no sign and still marked $99. I asked a sales lady, and she went and checked...could it be??
Really???



Yes! 12.99 !!

The sales lady quickly grabbed 2 for herself..she had just arrived at work. She went in the back room and saw all the employees had them there to buy..and they get 40% additional discount..

I am thinking of trying to get a job there..:)

DELL Computer Problems!!!!

Hello everyone!

I am borrowing a laptop to post this message. I have been blocked out of any Google sites for days!
Dell charged me, and when they couldn't solve it, said it was because Google was down.
Obviously, that isn't true, as I am getting on from a different computer using my ISP.

So I will call Dell and spend some more time trying to get them to fix the problem with my DELL computer..

I hope to be back soon....
It has been very frustrating, and time consuming..

I hope Dell will get to the bottom of this!!!

I will let you know...

I found a great deal yesterday at the WSonoma outlet and I am dying to share it with you!
Check back tomorrow to see if Dell has rescued me...
