Christmas Tables~ Let's Dish !

Good evening, everyone.  Hope you are all well.  I am doing battle with a wicked sore throat and cough since last Friday, it has put a major crimp in my preparations.

I was unable to do a new table for you tonight, so I will show some from the past.  I know, boo, but sickness has no respect for tablescaping plans!

table 1189

To start, a little craft to use as place cards.

I cut the adorable  face from a roll of ribbon, fashioned a snowperson's body and made a slit in a styrofoam ball.  Something cute that costs very little!

table 472

Perfect with these cute plates from CVS, a chain of drug stores.  I bought them after Cmas one year, for about .50 or less a plate.

table 1429

This table gets a lot of interest from pinners.  There is a red checked tree shaped place mat from WS Outlet and all the plates are from there too.  Very simple and fun!

table 424

A more formal table done with a wicker sleigh centerpiece I made with fresh greens and flowers.  The china is Eternal Christmas by Lenox.

table 1464

Same china, but this for New Years.  Fresh greens, flowers and pinecones adorned with some glittery ribbon and stars.

My tip for Yvonne's TTT, fill your kitchen island with trays of goodies, and let people help themselves... Plenty of small bites choices like the Rugelach shown here.

Another tip is if you entertain a lot, invest in a buffet server like the triple one you see here.  I got mine from HSN, Command Performance.  Not only is it pretty, but it is SO useful.

You can cook , and serve in it, and it has 3 separate settings. I have given a few as gifts, and they are always a hit!

I have previously posted the recipe for Mike's Rugelach, type it in the search bar if you are interested.

Your turn, same rules, no word id, dish related post and a link back to this party.

Visit as many as you can, I am way behind,  but next week should be better!

Thanks for visiting, see you Sunday!

Deck the the Door, the Porch, and anything that doesn't move!

Good evening!  Mild and foggy here on Long Island.
I wanted to join Ann On Sutton Place and The Tablescaper for their parties.
Dec 2012 066The door is decked...
Dec 2012 069  The wreath is a battery operated one from QVC.

I wired on a French Horn, and some fresh greens and pine cones.

Next week, the fresh baby's breath will be added and some more greens.

Plaid bows galore!  I have made at least 20 of them this year so far.  Wired ribbon from Costco, 50 yds for 7.88.  Can't beat that!
Dec 2012 065

Two dwarf Alberta Spruce get lit and bowed, and the lanterns get some fresh greens and bows.

Dec 2012 067

On one side, a bowed tree.

Dec 2012 063

You can sit and wait for Santa.

Dec 2012 064

I see Santa is waiting for Santa too!  :)

I filled the window boxes with fresh greens and of course, a big plaid bow.  Battery operated lights twinkle.

Dec 2012 052Our Blue Spruce is lit, and the Holy Family is spotlighted.

Dec 2012 062  Our house is the only house on the block with lights, so far.
Only a few homes have winter occupants.

Inside the front door is the Dansk Crystal Nativity.
Dec 2012 043
I surround it with a wreath with sheer ribbon twirled through and lights.  Fresh baby's breath will be added closer to Christmas.

I found the box with the kitchen window sill decos.

Villeroy & Boch Toy's Fantasy~ Let's Dish #38

Good evening!  My blog is 4 years old this week, time flies.

I hope everyone is pleased with their progress on holiday preparations.  I am not done.  Outside is, but inside has a long way to go!

Tonight I am using Villeroy and Boch Toy's Fantasy.
Dec 2012 019
Notice all the detail, fluted edges and red trim.
Dec 2012 004
I used a green glass charger, and green and red napkin ringed with pip berries and mini pine cones.  It is a small candle ring, .50 from Cmas Tree Shop a few years ago.

Dec 2012 003
The soup bowl has a snowman scene done in coordinating colors.

Dec 2012 013
The tablecloth is an off white with a muted red pattern.  It is lined and has a cording edge.  It was 5.00 in Savers.

Dec 2012
Dec 2012 013

The green flatware is from World Market, and the green BEE glasses are from Cmas Tree Shops, 1.00
Little red gift boxes hold the name card.

Dec 2012 007

Since the china pattern is toys, I used a mini red flyer tricycle on some fresh greens as the centerpiece.

Dec 2012 014
Two little felt bendable elves are riding.  I got them in PB last year after Cmas, for 1.00 each.
Dec 2012 006
Dec 2012 009
A matching boot cookie jar from V&B.
Dec 2012 010
There is amazing detail on the toys.

There used to be a Villeroy and Boch outlet here in Southampton.

They had a basement clearance area, and I would wait for the 75 off after Christmas.

Dec 2012 005
Dec 2012 020   75% off the lowest price...I sure miss that store!
My tip for Yvonne's TTT party is about windows.
Dec 2012 022 I used heavy weight Dansk dish towels to make this for the kitchen window for Christmas.
Dec 2012 022
I sewed a co ordinating stripe with the check, then added  tassel to the point.  I only have one large window in the kitchen, so it works for me!

I haven't found the doo dads I usually put on the window sill, they must be in the next bin!
Dec 2012 024
It looks festive with my kitchen tree.  Little copper pot ornaments and gingerbread boys from WS Outlet.
Dec 2012 025 table 394
table 395

This is something easy I make often.  Puff pastry cut with a rolling lattice tool, filled with a poached pear half, stuffed with cinnamon and nuts.

I didn't want to send you away hungry!

Lenox Tartan~ Let's Dish #37

Good evening, welcome to the start of the Christmas Parade of Dishes!  Many towns start the season with a parade, so why not our holiday dishes?
Let's Dish 1710
I am using Lenox Tartan tonight, with a gold charger, and gold trimmed flatware by Wallace.
Let's Dish 1718
The tablecloth is from Home Goods, and picked up some of the colors in the plate.
I used a wreath to surround the antique cream soup bowls by Noritake.  My friend Marigene from In the Middle of Nowhere sent them to me a few years ago.  They are trimmed in gold like the plate.
Let's Dish 1709
A burgundy napkin from CTS is held by the  gold ring from Target.  The gold ornament place card holder is from Michael's.
Let's Dish 1711
The centerpiece is a sugared fruit wreath with  a set of battery operated lights woven through.
Let's Dish 1722
I used a large hurricane filled with little pine cones and a candle in the middle.
Let's Dish 1712Let's Dish 1723 Let's Dish 1716 The stemware is an an etched glass trimmed with gold.
Let's Dish 1719
I got the plates at the Lenox Outlet.  They have a sale every year, and they are 10 dollars a plate, then I use my coupon for another 20 off.  I only have dinner plates, as I have the full service of Lenox Christmas Eternal that I use for formal dinners.  I just loved these though, so I have bought a few every year.
Let's Dish 1716
Let's Dish 1722
Hope your holiday preparations are going well.  They are a snail's pace here!
Have you started your holiday baking yet?
table 1417
table 1434
A stack of cookies in a cute mug, this one has a cover, makes a cute gift.
table 1433
Tied with a bow, and an  ornament from WS outlet, makes it even better!
Time to start the parade of plates, bring on Christmas!
Please remember to visit as many as you can, NO WORD ID, sorry, but I remove those who have it,  one link, blog name first.  I'd love if you left a comment for me too!  Please link back to this party.
